Post Pathfinder (D&D "3.75") Cancelled/Closed For Now
Hey all, looking for a set of 4-6 solid, dependable players for a Pathfinder game. Quick FYI for anyone who doesn't know, Pathfinder is an upgrade of D&D 3.5 meant to make the base classes stronger, the skills and combat easier to manage, and make it an actual "choice" of whether or not to take a PrC. The skills are mostly the same (except for a few skills that were rolled into 1 skill, such as Search/Listen/Spot becoming Perception). If you've played 3.5, there are really only a few big things you'll have to get used to aside from the new options available for each base class.

Having said that, here's a little backstory for you:

The party was in the process of killing a rather nasty wizard who was breaking the Third Covenant by experimenting with Chronology, or Time Magic. The wizard had a small legion of undead soldiers that were being taken care of by soldiers from the nearby kingdom, and the wizard (and a few undead soldiers) were about to go down. Unfortunately, the wizard managed to cast one of his illegal time spells, and the entire group was shunted into a static time stream. For what seemed like moments, no-one was able to move. Then, suddenly, everyone unfroze back in the wizard's tower. However, something seemed off...

What I expect from my players:
1. You are decent role-players. The group could go either RP-heavy or combat-heavy (or 50-50) depending on the group, but that doesn't mean you'll get away with *Steve wakls up to ogre #3 and starts hiting it with a hammer*. Your grammar doesn't have to be perfect either, but I do want some effort from the players.

2. You'll show up on time and be consistent. I don't want to have to cancel a session half the time because people suddenly get busy. The start time will be determined by the group, so if you're not sure you can stick to it, or you know you'll be busy in 2-4 weeks at that time, don't say the time's "ok"

3. Respect. If I hear complaints that one player's making bad jokes about another one, or dissing them or their character, you're out. There's a zero tolerance policy for that kind've crap. And there'll be no PC-v.-PC action. If your characters hate each other in-game, that's fine, but they won't be attacking each other and such and making the party take sides.

Now, rule 3 I should not have to post here, and I don't expect it to become an issue. Just letting everyone know the policy.

Character Creation Rules:
Starting Level: 7
Starting Wealth: 23,500
Usable Books: PF Player's Guide, Advanced Player's Guide, Completes, Spell Compendium. Anything else, just ask. I reserve the right to disallow material from these books if it's twisted into some munchkin loophole or your attack modifier is 20+ for some reason.
Ability Score Generation: 25 Point Buy
Note: Pathfinder does not require XP for item creation feats. HOWEVER, you cannot craft items before the game starts at half price. If you want to craft your own items, great! However, you still pay the full market cost for the items before the game starts.

In addition to a character sheet (I recommend myth-weavers.com, but any online sheet will do) I would like some personality and background details for your character. This lets me gauge how well you can write as well as help me to include some details in the adventure. The world is currently mostly open, so you can feel free to generate a village in the woods if you're playing an elf or some coastal city if that's your thing. If you need specific details about a capital or capitals, or a major region, please let me know.

Last, I promise, please indicate when you're available to play. I'm leaning HEAVILY on Tuesday/Thursday evenings (After 5 PM EST) or sometime Friday.

Any other questions, feel free to ask me. I'll be posting this elsewhere, and I'll keep everyone updated as to the current situation.

I'm interested. The biggest deal for me is finding a good day to play. After that, I can generally be reliable. I'm sure theres people here who can vouch for my tenacity when it comes to making game times.

Made a character, is a Half Elf Wizard/Master Specialist (Abjuration)

Primarily an anti caster getting best out of dispel magic, uses
Complete Arcane
Complete Mage
And the armour type Twilight
Aside from that nothing particularly exciting or special, full back story and persona provided, forgive any mistakes have never played pathfinder before so may have a few mistakes.

Perhaps I'm missing it somewhere, but I cannot find a sheet from ya..or a PM cute-hydra.

Hey Starmage, I was in an ancient game of yours from awhile ago, but I know you're reliable. Are any of the times I've mentioned within the acceptable range (Tuesdays/Thursdays after 5 PM EST, or Fridays sometime)?

I noted it in a PM, but with the myth-weavers sheets, you can just give someone the URL of the character sheet and they'll be able to see it online too. And now the sheets are automatically public, not private.

However, good note here, please PM me your sheets! As another poster has mentioned, only the player and the GM need to know about the character's in the numbers sense and it's better for players not to be biased based upon foreknowledge of someone else's character.

Post Re: Pathfinder (D&D "3.75") Recruiting!
I don't suppose something from one of the 3rd-party publishers would be allowed? I've gotten pretty bored with the 11 core classes, even with Pathfinder's tweaks, and I'm not particularly interested in the APG classes either.

I'd be interested in playing a Swashbuckler or Warlord from the Tome of Secrets by Adamant Entertainment, or a Magus or Shadow Assassin from SuperGenius Games (the Genius Guide to the Magus, or the Genius Guide to the Shadow Assassin), or a psionic character from Psionics Unleashed by Dreamscarred Press (the official Pathfinder psionics book, commissioned by Paizo basically). These are all Pathfinder supplements, available for purchase on Paizo's website or RPGNow or the like. Though given that they're not in your list, I'm guessing you don't have 'em. :-/

For reference if that is the case: Swashbucklers are basically a fighter/rogue hybrid, more like the fighter but with many of the fighter bonus feats and special abilities replaced with a few rogue abilities, like Thrust which is akin to Sneak Attack but limited to piercing melee weapons covered under Weapon Finesse (and it advances at about half the rate of SA, only 1d6 every 4 levels or so). Swashbucklers get a gradual dodge bonus in light or no armor as they advance in level, and eventually gain a 1 or 2 point increase in their threat range with Weapon Finesse weapons. Warlords are similar to fighters as well, but with only a few bonus feats over time and, instead of fighter special abilities, they gain abilities to inspire and lead a group into battle (a gradual initiative bonus for the group, a gradual bonus on the group's saves against fear, minor benefits when fighting side-by-side, one or two other minor benefits over time, and primarily an ability to inspire nearby allies with 1d6 temporary HP/2 levels until the end of the encounter, a few times per day). The Magus is an arcane/divine spellcasting hybrid, similar to a wizard in basic stats and casting but with limited access to both arcane and divine spell lists, but only minor class features otherwise, and minor restrictions on their spellcasting/spells known. Shadow Assassins are basically ninja; a roguish class with shadow-based special abilities instead of sneak attack and such, while their handful of mundane class features (those that aren't limited to functioning in shadows or manipulating shadows) emphasize exotic weapons, two-weapon fighting, or unarmed combat. And of course, the psionic classes in Psionics Unleashed are virtually the same as those presented in the Expanded Psionics Handbook and the 3.5 SRD, but tweaked for Pathfinder.

It's not that I can't come up with some amusing or interesting character concepts using the core classes, it's just that I'm bored to tears with actually playing those same core classes for so many years.

I'm basically free on Mondays through Fridays. Except Wednesday nights, as I play in Reckless' Wednesday Pathfinder game (7-11 pm Eastern or so).
