Post Re: Help!
Can you network a Linux machine to a Windows machine?
If not, it's going to be problematic trying to switch over, what with the other two machines being Windows based.

I can't help you with this. You will need to wait for David or send him a PM.

I don't know why the updater would need to reference the map. Odd. The program works otherwise? I mean if you skip the update? or does it crash before you do anything with the update window? You can try starting it with start_noupdate.py if that helps.

Can you post the contents of the crash-report.txt file, please? it should be in the top level OpenRPG directory.

Post Re: Help!
I may have resolved this issue. I had this issue myself, where the window would just appear and vanish, but no error log would be created. What I did:

1) Uninstall OpenRPG, wxpython, and python if you have them, from add/remove programs.

2) Delete all relevant folders.

3) Download and install python 2.5.4 manually from here:
http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.5.4/

4) Download and install wxpython 2.8 manually from here:
http://www.assembla.com/spaces/traipse/documents

5) Download and install the Traipse executable:
http://www.assembla.com/spaces/traipse/ ... nstall.exe

I'd like to know if it works for you as well!

TidBit of information. If you do steps 3 and 4 then all you need is the Traipse.zip file found here: https://www.assembla.com/spaces/traipse ... raipse.zip

The Install.EXE that IndyPendant is recommending will do steps 3 and 4 as well though.

Post Re: Help!
I was getting an error message when I tried to use the installer on its own, without pre-installing python; something about being unable to find the file in my My Docs...temp folder. Sorry, should have also specified on the installer that when it asks you if you want to install python 2.5.4, say 'no'. I did not try the zipfile.

And *cough* I need help myself now with a different issue. If anyone can help me with my odd issue, I'd be very grateful. ; ) viewtopic.php?f=4&t=106

Hrm?? The installer is getting an update right after the beta goes live, so knowing this helps. Thanks.
