Post Re: Help!
I am having the same problem as the OP, except that my OS is Windows 7.

This is a screenshot of the text that appears in the command prompt window that appears for a second when I try to run OpenRPG.

I hope that helps you guys understand the problem.

What is this for? This is why I created the Crash Report and asked DJ to put it in Standard. YOu can look for the crash-report.txt file because it contains the same data.

The error says it cannot find your Element Tree module.

crash-report.txt... contains the same data

Ah, well, I didn't know that. Also, I did a search via the start menu for crash-report.txt and nothing came up, but I'll go look for it manually.

Also, I don't know what an Element Tree Module is. I'm absolutely clueless about this.

Edit: Just poked around the OpenRPG folder, couldn't find crash-report.txt.

Ok. A few questions. How did you install OpenRPG? Do you know what version of Python you are using? Would you be interested in trying my OpenRPG for?

I can't help you with the Standard version of Open RPG, mainly due to a conflict of interests, but I can help you with my fork. Since you should already have Python and wxPython installed you can just install the ZIP file: http://www.assembla.com/spaces/traipse/ ... raipse.zip

As for what an Element Tree module is. . . Element Tree is a part of Python. The module is used to work with XML data. Standard added their own Element Tree material to a sub folder and now your software is looking for it but cannot find it.

Post Re: Help!
I installed OpenRPG 1.8+ Standard from RPGObjects.com.

No, I do not know which version of Python it installed.

Would your version still be able to connect to a server created by someone using 1.8+ Standard?

If not, is there a way I can get OpenRPG to find the element tree stuff, or acquire the files if they somehow didn't install?

Yes Traipse can still connect to a Standard server.

I do not know how you would get the Element Tree material into your folder. Ask David, DJ, or Snowdog.

Okay, so I'm going to try your fork (what does that mean in this context, anyways?). I just downloaded and unzipped it, how do I install it? Just move the files to my OpenRPG folder?

No, just leave the files in the unzipped folder and run setup.py

Fork: In software engineering, a project fork happens when developers take a copy of source code from one software package and start independent development on it, creating a distinct piece of software., http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fork_%28so ... lopment%29
