Rob98926 wrote: maby if someone can make a step by step for xp? and one for vista? There really is no need, Rob, for most installs on Vista and XP. Just install and go. Only some require more. Alright .. I can't help you with that version. If you want to try Traipse you can download the ZIP and run the setup file in there. It's really stable with few complaints. Direct Link to ZIP: http://www.assembla.com/spaces/traipse/ ... raipse.zip

Rob98926 wrote: ok so i have it downloaded. i saw nowhere during installation for the admin privilages, i cant start the program (every time i try the black box appears then dissapears), when i open anything in side the same thing happens. Run as admin will not show up during install. You need to go to your c drive and find the folder for python. Then inside the folder find the python application right click chose properties then pick compatibility. Some where on there, there should be a spot for permissions and it will say "run as administrator" click on it . You will have to do the same thing with WX python. Once that is done it should work.

 Re: Help!
Ok, so I looked over the Compatibility section of the Properties window. There is a Compatibility Mode for previous versions of Windows only, a Display Settings area for if the graphics aren't quite right and an Input Settings area for advanced text services.
No admin mode anywhere. It seems to work just fine on my wife's netbook, but I'm not allowed on it when she's awake.
[EDIT:] I deleted the Google Chrome Frame (which was on my computer first) from my computer after noticing that there was a SEVERE lag problem going on, but deleting said frame, deleting Python and OpenRPG and reinstalling Python and OpenRPG did nothing for the problem. Yes, I reset between deleting the different software, just in case. It fixed my internet lag problem though.

 Re: Help!
When you open up compatibility is there an area that says "Privilege level" or anything like that? ( i think I screwed up earlier when I told you to look for permissions )
You may want to look through the other tabs to see if it's on one of the other property pages.
In vista this is on the compatibility page but I'm not sure how XP handles Privilege levels. Maybe if you can find a windows support forum they might be able to help you better. I haven't had the time to do a in depth google search and find a answer.
I would love to know where it is in XP for future reference.

 Re: Help!
I don't know what to tell you.
This sounds like a admin problem and without a xp machine I'm at a loss to tell you what to try next. It really shouldn't be this hard a problem.
Your going to have to learn how xp deals with admin settings and how it handles these things, again your best bet is a windows support forum.
OR
You can try prof.ebral's suggestion and try installing Traipse. You shouldn't have to uninstall openrpg to try Traipse ( which is a branch of openrpg )
I don't know if this will help seeing as the problem seems to be your inability to run python not in openrpg itself and since you would need to run python to run Traipse the same problem could happen with it.
BUT who knows it's worth a shot maybe it'll work maybe not but at this point it can't hurt to try.

I think there is more too it than that. Also, I do not recommend running Python as Administrator because that gives Python, an interpretor, automatic Administration powers. Yeah sure that seems pretty small when you want to run OpenRPG, but python is inside a lot of software. I think it is a very insecure step that people need to turn the Administrative powers of Python on in order for OpenRPG to work. Since Python is the interpretor, it will allow any script Administrative powers. Whether you get the software running with or without Admin power I am trying to figure out why some need it and some don't. You should not need it and I would to remove the dependency.
