I see what you mean, Az, pragmatic evil. Yeah, he's pretty cool and if Ty ever falls from grace thats what im aiming up to be. Prob is that someone whos evil like that would have to be someone like Aearon with either a grudge against some other evil being or saw us as a means to power.

And no, I still maintain that someone working for a good cause i.e a well intentioned extremist, is neutral chaotic/neutral their aims are good but they have no regard for the method which it is achieved.

so what your saying is we have to corrupt Aear while we corrupt you?

Evil, as understood in alignment terms, is someone without respect for the rights of others or sanctity of life. I could probably play an utterly unrepentant serial killer who was on a mission to save the world, since hey, it's his world too. Or out to save humanity from an invasion of pandimensional insect spirits. Noble goal does not mean noble motivations. And then there's that whole proverb about the road to hell. I mean, a lot of the worst crimes in human history have been done by people who thought they were the good guys.

...I think I got way off track there.

No, I understand what you mean; Noone ever did anything for what they perceive as a bad reason. I view of the alignment scale seems to be far more simplistic than most; your aim combined with strategy generally defines your good/evil alignment whereas your methods defines your law/chaos alignment. This does lead to some differances e.g a warlord who is trying to conquer the lands to bring peace but isn't unnecessarily cruel a la 'Hero' I would say is Neutral whereas I suspect that other peoples options would put him as evil/neutral.

My explanation for this is that his aims are good but countered by his evil methods thus shifting to Neutral, similarly his goal is to tear down the existing order (chaos) but then re-establish his own order (law) using a standing army (neutral). I would never move to say that he would be a good character unless the people he was conquering were inherently evil and inversely I wouldn't have said that he was evil unless the people he was conquering were inherently good and he was a despicable character i.e kill he weak, rob the poor and other things for the evulz.

My point being that there is alot of bend to the system (which is good) and its hard to classify an archtype as existing purely as one alignment unless the point of the archetype is defined as being one alignment (paladin and conversely the antipaladin, monk, anarchist etc)

Indeed. Moral complexity, the nine alignments are not.

whilst lacking flexibility, it is a system that everyone can agree on and it sets a standard which other players can use to prevent others from acting out of character.

Post Re: pathfinder saturdays xp and notices
Getting down to business I have some things to discuss:
Currently we are traveling at a rate of 40 miles a day and are well if blandly fed
I'm riding a Phantom Steed
Aear is riding a conjured Mount
Ty riding a warhorse
we have two pack camels with light loads (a light load is 300 lbs for a large quadruped with a str of 18), however it shoul dbe pointed out that both camels are carrying close to their limit for light loads and if we ask them to carry more it will slow us down.
and I'm not sure what the Elf mage is riding, if he did not see fit to buy a mount then I will extend him use of my spellbook Elementary Invocations so he can conjure a Phantom Steed or a Mount.
The way I see it Aear has first watch, followed by Ty, then Elf Wiz and then I watch the sunrise and make use of the time to make proper prayers and study.
Every morning I cast Endure Elements on myself, Aear casts it on himself, and Elf Wiz borrows my spellbook and casts it on himself, I conjure a mount and a phantom steed and cast create food and water, currently I create 24 units of food (a person uses one unit of food per day, a mount 3 and a rat 1/2).

any questions/comments?

Edit: one other thing, we have 4 chain shirts, 2 longswords and 2 longbows. I have already given Aear the spare arrows. If anyone wants one just make it known, otherwise they will likely be sold to the highest ethical bidder.

Change the watch rotation, Aeraon can take the first 2 hours then Ty can take a 8 hour shift, that way we are only resting for 10 hours but everyone is fully ready as Ty can do is prayers in the final hour or so.

Also I want the real mount so I can armour it and use it as a mount if needs be.

In addition, don't waste a endure elements on Ty, his fort is so high he dosen't need it.

Shift change is done.
As for the endure elements spell you are traveling in plate armor which has to wreak havoc on your fort save, I don't want big bad and armored to be fatigued when I need him ready to lay pain down on something.
