 Friday night D&D 3.5 game
Hey there folks I am starting a 3.5 game on Friday nights about 9 pm EST. The levels and ability point buys are somewhat flexible based on your decisions and choices, but the range is from 4th to 8th level. You can find out more about the world at the following link: http://outoftheruins.proboards.com/index.cgiOut of the Ruins is the name of my game, Last Standing is a similar game run in the same world, but by a different DM. The game is set in a post plague Forgotten Realms setting where a magical plague has killed 98% of all things with intelligence of one or greater. The PCs must be good or neutral and are going to be in the position of helping to rebuild civilization and keep the few remaining peoples they can find alive and fed. I have 3 people currently and would like to get 3 more. I am on the Mayhem server now, or you can post questions here about the game.

I'd love to join this, been looking for a new game to join since my last campaign finished. You mentioned crafting magic items on the forum, will you allow Artificer as a PC class?

What book is artificer from? Is it Eberon? If so, no, definitely not, if there is an FR version, then maybe.
From what I remember of the class, it would be better as an NPC than as a PC. The players in this game are trying to rebuild civilization and save as many people as they can.
A wizard or a warlock would be better choices as far as being more multi faceted to play and still be able to craft. There are going to some sessions without any combat where you are strictly managing the business of running your area, which will be the Baldur's Gate region to start. There will also be sessions that there will be a lot of combat, either from exploring or trying to defend your realm. So having a character that is good for both would be your best bet.
That being said would love to have you on board...
If you have a character idea, shoot it by me.

What level are the other players at? Cause it would kind of suck to start at level 4 gestalt, only to find that everyone else is at level 8, and you're not going to catch up to them for months. At this point I'm thinking of a Pixie Wizard, leading into Incantrix eventually. What's your position on non-PHB races? Regarding the Artificer, if the campaign is about rebuilding civilization, then all the PCs should be artificers Seriously though, I understand your reluctance to use foreign setting-specific classes.

Re: Friday night D&D 3.5 game
There is not much in between 4th and 8th, people seem to either go for the immediate power of 8th level or for the long term at 4th. My guess is that the 8th level people will dominate for a while, at least when there is combat involved. I thought when I tried this experiment most people would choose somewhere in the middle like 6th, but it has been interesting, every single person has gone to an extreme so far Live and learn I guess. What book is Incantrix from? FR Campaign setting? I am not allowing PrCs from outside the core books without approval. Anything from the races books and complete books will almost assuredly be approved, other stuff is very likely to be disallowed.

Incantrix is in Player's Guide to Faerun
If it's cool with you, I'm planning to start at level 4 gestalt, with Beguiler on the pixie side: Wizard 4//Pixie LA/Beguiler 1 Sort of a controller/buffer that can double as face and skillmonkey.
Another question, how easy will it be to learn new wizard spells? Am I going to be mostly stuck with the ones from leveling?

I'd love to get in on the game if you've still got room. I've got some experience with 3.5 from years ago, but I've been looking to find a game to join recently!
Let me know if you still have space =)

Yes, we are still taking players, I would like to get 6.
This Friday I will not be there, my daughter is in town and I will be spending time with her.
Next Friday, the 23rd, I will be doing the first session with the players that have characters ready. Probably start at 9 pm EST and go for 3-4 hours.
