 Change of Idea for Pathfinder
Haha, I changed my mind on the other campaign idea, have you ever seen the Percy Jackson movie? And or read the books? I've decided that I'll run a game based in that world, same old Pathfinder, but, present time, and depending on the god you've chosen, you have diffrent abilities. Apollo: God of Archery, Medecine, Poems, Prophecy, and the Sun. Ares: God of War. Athena: Goddess of Wisdom, Battle, and Crafts. Aphrodite: Goddess of Love, Romance, and Beauty. Hermes: God of Roads, Messengers, Medics, Theives, and any whom use a road. Hephaestus: God of the Forge and Fire. These are the gods that I will allow PCs to have as their "Godly Parent" The bonuses each Demigod (The proper name for a child born half human and half god) are as follows. Apollo Automatice Proficiency in Longbows and Shortbows. +2 to Attack when using a Longbow and or Shortbow. +5 to Heal skill and if not a class skill, treat it as such. +3 to Dexterity, and Charisma. Ares Gains automatic profiency in any weapon, weather exotic, or not. Gains a +2 to attack when using weapon of choice (Chosen at the tme of character creation) Gains a +3 to the Knowledge (History) when identifying the properties of weapons, when discovering a magical weapon, they can instantly know it's properties, and they can also learn it's history by rolling 1d20 adding their level and strength modifier. They gain a +3 to Strength, and Consttution. Athena Gains automatic Proficiency with the Longsword. They treat all knowledge skills as if they were class skills, and can use them untrained, they may also gain a bonus of +5 to any knowledge skill (chosen at the time of character creation) They gain the spell-like ability to study a single opponent for one round (They can make not other actions while doing so, and MUST see the target) to gain a feel for their combat style, they can do this for a number of rounds equal to their Wisdom Modifier, for each round spent annalyzing an opponents fighting style, they gain a +1 to attack, and a +1 Deflection, Dodge, or Blocking (Chosen at the time of annalyzation) modifier against that target for the duration of combat. They gain a +3 to Wisdom, and Intelligence. Aphrodite They gain a bonus of +3 to Charisma, and to Dexterity. They gain the spell like ability to "Sense" the love life of an target, and by spending a ceartain amount of time viewing the target (Determined by DM) they can determine whom they marry, whom they fall in love with, and how it will end. They also gain the power to influence the emotions of a target creature and aim them more towards the emotions felt when in love, this can also be used to cause the target to gain sever infatuation with the child of aphrodite. (This only works against Humanoids, and cannot be undead, will save DC 10+level+cha mod negates) They also gain a bonus of +2 to Disguise, or any skill used to alter or change the physical appearance of an indivisual. Hermes They gain a bonus of +5 to their Base Speed. They gain a +3 that can be placed on ANY two attributes, chosen at time of character creation. They also gain a +5 to place on any skill they desire, the skill it's placed on functions as a class skill. They also gain a free bonus feat, as well as 2 more Skill Points per level, they also gain automatic profiency with any weapon they desire. (I tried to make it resemble "Jack of all Trades, Master of None") Hephaestus They gain a +4 Strength and Constitution, and gain a +3 to Fortitude saves VS effects of endurace, and +3 to saves VS effects that drain strength and constituion and fire (To resemble their hardy nature) They also gain Fire Resist/10 The appearance of children of Hephaestus is always marred by a ugly feature, granting a -2 Charisma. They gain a +6 bonus to Craft Skills, and treat them as class skills. They can also take magic item creation feats without needing to know magic. I am only allowing Humans as a PC race, also, I am allowing a limited choice of classes, if this goes well, I will allow children of Hecate Goddess of Magic, which will grant access to Scorcerers, and if that goes well, I'll allow children of Dioynysus God of Wine, and Parties, which will allow people to gain access to Druids. Fighter Rouge Monk Ranger Barbarian are the only classes I am allowing. A few things to take into notice; Celestial Bronze: A form of metal created on mount Olympus that glows with a dim bronze light, and is a bane to evil creatures, but, to mortals (Non-Demigods and non-monsters) are impossible to harm with this metal, it will simply pass through them as if a illusion. It functions as Adamantine in all respects. (Note: Demigods are the only form of life that can be harmed by both Celestial Bronze, and normal weapons, gods and similar divine forces cannot be harmed by normal steel, and such, and can only be harmed by Celestial Bronze and magic, Demigods are unique in the fact that they lie in not just one world, but both.) Scent: Demigods give off scent that attracts monster, whom come to challenge them, the more powerful the Demi-God, the more powerful their scent is, monsters can also smell other monsters, the stronger the scent of a Demigod, the more often they will be challenged by monsters. Mist: Mist is created whenever divine, or monstrous elements are mxed with the mortal world, it clouds the vision of mortals, they can't see clearly through it, which allows things to seem diffrent, for instance, a enourmous Hellhound pouncing on a Demigod will simply seem to them like a large black truck hurtling towards the unlucky Demigod, or, a God making an explosion will look like him throwing a bomb, and so on so forth, some mortals are born with the power to see through it, it lacks the power to fooll them, so they see everything as it truley is. Monsters in the Present Time: Monsters in this world are very much real, most monsters in the Biestery can be used, just grant a Greek Flair to them, and vuala, you got a greek monster. However, monsters NEVER just leap out at you, more or less, they'll disguies themselves as something else, willl lure the Demigod(s) into a trap and then spring it, and or the Demigod could simply walk by the monster and it attacks, this is a favoured tactic by more intelligent monsters, less intelligent monsters are often under the control of more powerful monsters, and or just happened to be there and the Demigod was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Things to take into note; The scent of a Demigod is often released at the age of 12, throwing their life through a loop, most run away from home to save their family, and or die that way, others make it to Half-Blood Hill (A camp designed for Demigods with a barrier that prevents monsters from coming inside) others survive without ever realising they're Demigods. The world is also full of incredible things, places that are full of magic right in front of the eyes of mortals. Feel free to throw your Demigod PCs through loops and off high cliffs, and so on so forth, anyone can take this and use this information, but I still want to play a campaign with about 5 Demigods whom never make it to camp, but, find their way around the world, and end up traveling the entire planet, ect ect. Email me at Batman.mtweb@yahoo.com if you're interested!

 Re: Change of Idea for Pathfinder
Things to take into concideration when planning backgrounds and such;
Each god would be attracted to people whom seem to fit them best, for instance;
Ares would be attracted to woman whom are rough, tough, who aren't affraid to stand and fight, ect ect.
Aphrodite would be attracted to men whom have a flair for romance, and or do something with their lives that permit romance, such as owning a chocolate shop, a flowering buisness, ect ect.
Athena would be attracted to men whom are intelligent, geniuses, think Einstien, and you're on the right track.
Apollo would be attracted to woman whom have a flair for style, who seem weak, fragile, allowing his pride to swell and "protect" them, ect ect.
Hephaestus would possibly be attracted to woman whom do more than sit around, who make things, use their hands a lot, and so on.
Hades could be attracted to a vast diffrence of people, it depends on the person for him (possibly)
Each Demigod each is built for a sepcific combat style, but, it is possible, in fact is quite common, to get by using a completely diffrent fighting style than should be normal.

 Re: Change of Idea for Pathfinder
Interesting. I would like to sorta see that in Pathfinder Chronicles setting instead of modern. This "New" pantheon is trying to get a foot hold on this Golarion, by any means. Just something to think about but otherwise, if modern setting I would prefer d20 modern or spycraft.

 Re: Change of Idea for Pathfinder
Actually, I favour Pathfinder for this kind of stuff, it's really no diffrent from playing it back in the good old days, just, don't walk in the streets or you'll get hit with a car instead of getting ran over by a horse. Ect. Ect. I think it'd be a rather interesting twist if you ask me, allows the PCs to learn something new, with an old system.

 Re: Change of Idea for Pathfinder
So wait, are you saying you'll join this game? You'll still have the same form of freedom you do in normal Pathfinder, just rather than towers in the background it's a city, or a desert or w/e, for a Demigod, the mortal world is out of their grasp, they can never live as a normal mortal, and yet, they can never live among the divine, they are caught in the middle, which is why the gods use Demigods as tools, it's a gift and a curse at the same time, so you guys can still go all out in deserts, forests, just occasionally, you'll find yourself in a small or large city, but mostly, the PCs will be in places with little to no mortal habitation. Trust me, I've played in a Pathfinder game set in modern times with similar circustances, and, well, it was fun, also, you guys won't use guns, you'll stick to swords and bows and crap. Like I said, everythng is the same, same weapons, same magic (If I add children of Hecate and Dionysus) same combat rules, same feats, same monsters, just with greek flair to each and every monster, and a modern feel. Oh, one more thing to take into note, Children of Aphrodite, are almost ALWAYS female, it's rare to find a male Demigod of Aphrodite (As in, there've been 8 in the history of Demigods)

 Re: Change of Idea for Pathfinder
So wat are you saying that you will join this game? Trust me it's not that diffrent from playing Pathfinder in it's "normal" time frame, to modernize pathfinder, which a DM that I know has figured it out, you need only change and add a few rules dependng on the setting you desire.
Take away CP, SP, GP, and PP, and Replace them with Dollars (For sake of ease, 100 CP is 1$) add the new Skill Operation ( ) which is Intelligance based, and Operation is based around these things; Land Vehicles, Air Vehicles, Construction Vehicles, Machinery, Computers, and other "technology" things, the new skill Knowledge (Technology), you can add Guns which are all Exotic Weapons on the scale of weapons, and are classified into Pisotls, Rifles, and Shotguns (I'm not gonna go into this, just what we need for this campaign) I will not be using guns, in fact, against a monster, guns would be less effective than a sturdy Celestial Bronze Blade, so I'll be using all of the traditional weapons, longswords, daggers, longbows, ect, I'll also be using traditional armor types, ect. But, the new currecny are Golden Drachmas, which are used in non-mortal transactions, such as when purchasing a bunch of magic items, or arrows, or whatever, ect ect, and you won't be in poplated areas much, you'll be adventuring in out of the way places, like Deserts, Forests, Mountains, ect ect. So, the only thing that'll really make it diffrent when it comes to "RP" is the tme is 2011, and, that's about it? Also, I'm writing up the last bit of information needed to know for this campaign.

 Re: Change of Idea for Pathfinder
The other two gods I am allowing as of now are;
Hecate: Goddess of Magic.
Dionysus: God of Wine, Plants, and Parties.
Their powers are as follows.
Hecate
Innate Magic: The Children of Hecate must take 1 level of Sorcerer; they cannot choose to take otherwise. Magic is as much a part of them as an arm is a part of a human.
Touch of the Arcane: Any weapon or armor wielded or worn by the Child of Hecate gains a +1 Enhancement Bonus, and is treated as magic for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. This effect will last as long as the Child of Hecate wields or wears the item. If they so choose, they can expend an constitution point to continue the enhancement bonus for a number of rounds equal to their charisma modifier after letting go.
Divine Inheritance: Children of Hecate gain a permanent +3 to Charisma and Dexterity to resemble the magical nature of their bodies.
Magic Sense: Children of Hecate have keener eyesight than most Demigods, and as a result, they gain the power to “see” magic, by seeing an aura around the item or effected area. This allows them to gain access to the Detect Magic spell permanently. This ability also translates over to being able to “Sense” the presence of Arcane Magic users.
Arcane Bond: Children of Hecate have the power to expend a single constitution point to identify the magical properties of any magic item, or they can use this ability to nullify the lasting effects of any spell, the spell is ended instantly without any other action needed. They also gain a permanent +5 bonus to Spell Craft, Knowledge (Arcana), and Use Magic Device, and treat them as class skills, and can use the skills untrained. Any weapon, armor, or other similar item made by a Child of Hecate gains the +1 Enhancement Bonus to it, and by expending 2 Constitution Points during the creation, they can increase it to +2.
Arcane Lore: A Child of Hecate receives a +3 bonus to any skill used to do anything with magic, skills used to determine the history of a spell, skills used to determine the effects of such spell, ect ect.
Dionysus
Divine Inheritance: Children of Dionysus gain a +3 to Charisma and Constitution; they also gain a +2 to Fortitude saves.
Body of Wine: Children of Dionysus are never hindered by the effects of alcohol; they may get drunk, but can never die from such, and can never be hindered by the effects of being drunk. They also can identify the type of wine, the date it was made, the current price, and the ingredients used in the making of the wine by simply smelling it. They also gain a +3 to saving throws VS Poison, and any effect that drains attribute scores.
Wine Masters: Children of Dionysus can make wine by simply taking the ingredients needed, placing them in a container, and saying “Make me some wine”, they can also do the same with potions, but, they must first have the Brew Potion feat, and need the ingredients for the potion they’re trying to make.
Lord of Plants: They gain the spell like ability to expend 2 points of Constitution to control a 15’ x 15’ area of mundane plants, the size increases to 20’ x 20’ if the plants are fruit bearing. They can command them to grow, move, ensnare, shrink, and or bear fruit. The Plants move with a speed of 15, and unless the plants were prepared before hand, it does nothing but make the affected area difficult terrain when they are commanded to ensnare.
Also, a few more things I should mention;
The two new materials that can be forged into weapons are;
Celestial Bronze: Celestial Bronze Functions in all respects as Adamantite, but, it functions as a Good alligned weapon, and demigods do not need be good alligned to weild the weapon. It also glows with a faint bronze light, granting the light of a candle. It also is a bane to most monsters, so, most monsters will think twice if you pull out a weapon made from Celestial Bronze.
Stygian Iron: Is the same as Celestial Bronze, but, is found only in the Underworld as counts as a Evil alligned weapon, and you must be evil or chaotic alligned to weild it or you'll suffer negative levels. It still functions the same way as Adamantite, but is lighter.
