As I said in August, I had spread myself to thin and was feeling a little bit of burn out. I was doing to many things and shepherding too many projects. The backlog of things I was meaning to get too was getting huge. Something had to give and I had to recalibrate myself and focus. So I stopped adding new projects and focused on finishing the ones I was currently working on.
Now with the dust settled and the slate clean, I want to talk about what I am focusing on now (and have been for the last couple months), and that is software. Gaming software is where I got started (openrpg) and it's always been one of my passions. But it's always taken a back seat to working on game books. Now, it's the reverse. Software will be my main focus for at least the next year. That isn't to say you won't find RPG books and other stuff at rpgobjects.com. You'll still see stuff from Charles Rice (vigilance press) and David Jarvis (reality deviants) and likely some other publishers. And I'm not going cold turkey either. I will still be working on RPG stuff (mostly Darwin's World) but it just won't be my main focus. It will be secondary to my software projects.
With that said, I'm sure the next questions people will have is what are you going to be working on? I spent a good month post gencon thinking about that. I had no shortage of ideas. I just needed to pick one and run with it. Eventually I did, and I've been hard at work on it for the last couple months. I'm not at a point that I want to announce it yet. I want to have something people can actually play with when I do. But I will say it's utilizes skeletonkeys' e-adventure tiles.
I also hope to blog more. And I plan to blog mostly about gaming from a software preceptive. But again, it will be secondary to the actually hacking of code.
