Well we will never know if we don't look. Which ever end the problem is in it should be found and fixed or at least documented.

If there is going to be a build up of conflicts then open and traipse should make a complete split so one is not tied down by the other.

I am making that complete split with Pious Paladin. Pious is a near complete rewrite replacing wxPython with PyQt. While Pious will include a network translation method, allowing Pious clients to connect to older servers, eventually the split will become so far that I will no longer support what has become the new standard of ..... Actually, I am also turning OpenRPG into a type of 'kernel' for virtual game tables.

Some of the advancements Pious Paladin already has in it's near Alpha stage of development.
Vast improvements to the Map. Images rotate, mini labels appear when the mouse is over the mini, an image caching system, vast improvements to online image retrieval with threading.
Major improvements to the network. Truncated data which reserves bandwidth for the server, improved usage of the recv and send threads.
Huge improvements to the chat. An in house browser that opens in a new chat tab, the chat is based on WebKit and allows for CSS styling.

And many more improvements are to come.

Post Re: OpenRPG missing menus
My intention was not to cause tension, I simply had a problem I needed addressed and I took the path of least resistance.

I downgraded wxPython on my system, but that caused more problems than it solved and formatting my hard drive and going back to Ubuntu 10.04 seemed a bit extreme, especially since 10.10 has some features I like which are not in 10.04.

I certainly could have left the OpenRPG server software running Caldoom, it is running 10.04 anyway, but the system will eventually be upgraded when the new LTS release comes out, so I decided to switch to Traipse there as well.

No tension just a difference of approach and opinion. With all the info I see why you would proceed that way.

I prefer to try and fix thing or more appropriately get other people to fix things ( in all honesty since I just find problems and don't actually do any work around here )

I also think that it's important that people know that eventually openrpg and traipse will stop being compatible so that may have an influence in any decision they make about which fork they want to follow.

And I am not saying that you are hiding the fact.

What I'm saying is that unless some one was paying close attention they may not understand that. Most people that come here for help tend to glance over forums and posts and miss things.

So I don't think that it hurts to reiterate in multiple places that in the future things will change and that should be a consideration so that people don't go " hey wait there's something wrong these used to work together " or " why can't I play in my old group " etc.
