I am looking to start a LotR RPG group for the Decipher game that came out with the movies from New Line Cinema. I'd like to recruit interested players and a GM. I wish to play and not GM myself, as I consider myself knowledgeable of Middle Earth but would prefer to have a GM much more knowledgeable than myself if possible. Dedicated/reliable players that want to roleplay in Tolkien's Middle Earth are what we would be after. I prefer Decipher's RPG to the previous MERP system from the 80s that was based on Rolemaster because I feel Rolemaster is far too cumbersome of a system and too intimidating to new players. I also find Decipher's game to be truer in spirit to the source material than MERP, especially in terms of magic.

Once we can get an idea of how many interested players there are and if there is an interested GM we can then go ahead and decide on day of the week and time. I own several of the books and you can buy them very cheaply since production on them has ceased. I have links to where they can be purchased wholesale for good prices. The PDFs of the books are also very easy to find.

Also, if any of you need the material to play the game I can help you in that regard. We just need interested players and if anyone is very knowledgeable on Middle Earth and would like to GM, that would be fantastic!

I can say that you should look into getting some of the background stuff from ICE. They did a great job with keeping the lore straight from the books as opposed to the movie lore. That being said, i may be talked into playing if you can find someone who is willing to GM the game, as I really am at my limit with GMing.

As for character creation - are we going to discuss characters together and try to make a group that is not overlapping constantly or is it just gonna be free-for-all. I prefer if we can do it, I would prefer the group thing...but that is up to everyone...
