 New 3.5 D&D campaign (GMT-friendly)
EDIT: Recruiting has now closed. We have 9 possible players at this point, and even if a few of them drop out of the game, we'll still have enough to play.
Hey there! I'm thinking of running another 3.5 Dungeons & Dragons campaign over OpenRPG, and I'm looking for any interested players who can play in the same day/timeslot. I'm trying to make it GMT-friendly, and have one interested player so far. For reference, I live in Arizona, so this game will take place in the late morning/early afternoon for me, and I may be an hour off during the weeks where Daylight Savings Time begins or ends (since Arizona doesn't use DST).
The game will run between 6 or 7 pm GMT (1 or 2 pm Eastern) until 10 or 11 pm GMT (5 or 6 pm Eastern), depending on how soon players arrive and how long they can play. I'm looking to run this on Saturdays or Sundays, but I can run it on a Mondays, Tuesdays, or Fridays instead if that works better for the group.
So, if you're interested, please post what day you'd prefer to play on, what other days you would be available on (just in case your preferred day doesn't work for the rest of the group), and perhaps what race/class you're thinking about playing.
As for campaign specifics, we'll be starting at level 1 with maximum hit points (and I might go with max HP for later levels, as well, just to give the group some endurance for the adventures I'm planning). You'll start with the maximum amount of gold for your starting class (such as 20 GP for a monk, or 240 GP for a fighter), and you can spend some of it on cheap magic items or other special items if you like. You get one free Artisan's Outfit, Entertainer's Outfit, Explorer's Outfit, Monk's Outfit, Peasant's Outfit, Scholar's Outfit, or Traveler's Outfit, as normal (note that I'm not talking about starting packages). Ability scores will either be determined with 32 point buy (as described in the Dungeon Master's Guide), or with a good rolling method on OpenRPG, depending on what the group concensus is. The campaign will be heroic in orientation, so evil PCs are highly unlikely to be accepted into the game.
I plan to run several different adventures in this campaign, drawn from different issues of Dungeon Magazine, interspersed with mini-adventures and such of my own devising to bring it all together and fill in the gaps. This will NOT be an Adventure Path; I'm using unrelated adventures, though there will be one overarching plotline that will show up at various points and lead into one of the final adventures I picked from Dungeon Magazine. I plan to run this campaign up to 20th-level or the low-epic levels.
The campaign setting we'll use is Oerth, the World of Greyhawk, as described in the Living Greyhawk Gazeteer. The Great Wheel cosmology will be in use as well, and there will be a few bits of extraplanar adventuring later on. Starting region will most likely be the Archbarony of Ratik, along the mideastern/northeastern coast of the Flanaess. But Player Characters may hail from other regions, or even other planes if you play some kind of planetouched race or the like.
You may choose a race with an ECL adjustment or Level Adjustment of +1 (or you may choose to use a monster's racial progression from Savage Species, if you play one of the races included there), if you like. You'll still begin with 0 Experience Points, and the starting gold of a 1st-level character (100 gold pieces if you play a monster race that starts with a racial Hit Die instead of a class level). If you really wanna play a tiefling, fire genasi, drow, githzerai, minotaur, xeph, or whatever, go ahead. As long as it's a race I won't veto outright (whisper gnomes, goliaths, full-blooded fiends, half-fiends, slaadi, etc.). Just remember that most NPCs you encounter will be common humanoids, and will react to your PC according to his, her, or its unusual race.
Allowed game materials will include most 3.0 and 3.5 D&D books from Wizards of the Coast, as well as material from 3.0 or 3.5 issues of Dragon Magazine. A few 3rd-party supplements may also be allowed. However, any material outside the core rules will only be allowed on a case-by-case basis (I won't allow everything from every book; but if you want to use a particular race, class, feat, spell, power, item, or whatever from one book or another, ask me about that particular rules element from that particular book). Psionics and blade magic (martial adepts etc.) ARE available in this campaign, and you can be certain that I will make significant use of both for NPCs and monsters wherever appropriate in the adventures I run.

Well you already know I am in! Personally I prefer point buy simply because its more balanced and makes it easier to set up PC stats before play begins. I will almost certainly go with a Psion, I'll need to do a little reading up about Psionics in Greyhawk and Ratik, but I'll have a character ready soon - can't wait to get started.

 Re: New 3.5 D&D campaign recruiting (GMT-friendly)
There may be some information on the Canonfire site, but I don't recall.......
Anyway, unlike the Forgotten Realms, Oerth has had psionic traditions for a very long time and psionics are only slightly less prolific than wizardry there. Most people on Oerth are aware of psionics to the extent they're aware of arcane and divine magic. The Baklunish goddess Xan Yae and her faithful ally, the ascended mortal Zuoken, have taught psionic lore to their followers for a long time. The Fist of Zuoken prestige class (renamed the Psionic Fist in the SRD since Zuoken's name is IP of WotC/TSR) from the Expanded Psionics Handbook is based on the demigod Zuoken's teachings of mixing physical discipline through martial arts with mental discipline from psionics.
Illithids and aboleths and similar creatures brought psionics with them to Oerth long ago, and creatures like duergar have been practicing psionics for ages (of the duergar's patron deities, Deep Duerra, is another patron deity of psionic mastery, while Laduguer is the duergar deity of toil and magic). Psionics is an ability nearly all people of Oerth have the potential for, and the talent to use it occurs more often than the talent for sorcery (since sorcerers need a particularly-magical bloodline, which is more rare). It is not quite as well understood by most people as wizardry, but scholars and anyone else of good education are well aware of it.

So, 2 interested players so far....... Here's hoping that more folks will express interest soon!
I'll be asking one guy in my Sunday-evening game if he'd like to switch to this game, since I know he lives somewhere several timezones to the east of me and has to leave that game early due to the time difference. So maybe this game will be better for him; or maybe not, since it'll be much, much earlier than the other game.

Huh, surprised at the lack of responses, come on people! Might be a victim of the little GMT gamers sites success as we now have 3 games going there and 4 might be a bit much for people.

 Re: New 3.5 D&D campaign recruiting (GMT-friendly)
I'm generally interested, although lately I've been dropping regular 3.5 for Pathfinder. The timing is a bit of a problem, though - I already have a game from 8 PM GMT on Saturday, and occasionally game on Sunday, whether RPGs or board games. Actually, I may be freer during the week, although I occasionally work late and can only make it after 9-ish PM GMT.
Still, sunday does look ok, as do most other days; it's just that I can't guarantee I'll be there every time.
Edit: I may run a dwarf PC... maybe barbarian, it depends on what other characters there are. Are there any houserule changes on the base classes and races?

Interested in playing. I can make a Human Warblade if no one else took that role already, or finally get to test out using a cleric.

Already planned on making a warblade for this campaign if it takes off, although there's no harm in two I suppose. More direct attack power I suppose.
