Re: Anyone up for a Monday or Tuesday Rifts Game?
Ok, a couple things I want to throw out there. First of all, Monday night, 8 pm EST is going to be the "official" roll up your character session, so hope to see everyone that is playing there on the 21st. If you want to do it sooner, my YIM is drboals at yahoo dot com, just get me on there and if I have time, we can make a room and roll up your PC.
I have a couple of simple house rules on character creation.
I do MDC a little different than the book. I actually allow you to increase your MDC like it were SDC with physical abilities. I will bring this up Monday at the first session, so people will get to add in some extra points based on physical skills they may have.
I personally think it is logical that if you have two MDC beings and one is way more accomplished physically, it would be reflected in its build, so if you have physical skills, it will help you.
Also if your race allows extra dice for abilities, you roll it up in the following way: first you roll 3d6 like you were human, if you get a score over 15, you roll another die and add it on... then you distribute your scores as you want... then you roll additional dice based on your race and add it to the ability it pertains to.
Therefore, let's say you roll a 17, which is over 15, so you roll an additional d6 and get a 4, so you are now at 21... you put this score on your PP. Your race says you get 4d6 on PP, so you would then get to roll an additional d6, say you get a 2, and then your final PP would be 23. This may be a little confusing for some, but I will be there to help with ability rolling on Monday so everyone will be able to get it right.
Finally, I DO allow augmented strength to be added to PHYSICAL weapons. So if you are a dragon juicer for example and your PS is supernatural, and it says you do 3d6 MD, and you have a magical sword that does 2d6 MD, your combined damage would be 5d6 MD. Vibro weapons and Psi Swords are not physical in my opinion, so the additional damage would not apply to them. This does not come up often, since most people use ranged weapons, but in case it does, I want you to be aware.
I think those 3 things are the only real "house rules" I use, everything else is basic Rifts out of the Main Book from 1990. For "follow-on" rules and additions, I use the ones that make sense, and I try not to use the ones that change the Main Book. So burst fire is from the Main Book, etc. even though it is later changed.
If you have an intelligent question, please ask. Questions like "Is there anything I need to know?" will be met with derision and rotten eggs will be flung at you

Seriously though, I welcome specific questions, I don't want something to be misunderstood, so if you are in doubt ask. If something comes up in gameplay that you disagree with, please whisper to me the book and page number that backs up your position and if it is something that is logical and makes sense for the game, I will make sure to correct it.
I reserve the right to interpret things my way though, so if you read something one way and I read it another, it doesn't mean you will automatically get your way. There can only be one GM at a game session, otherwise the game breaks down into chaos. I certainly try to use the rules of whatever game system I am playing, I think that is part of the game, but the rules as written cannot anticipate every situation, that is why there is a GM.
Ok, now that all of that is out of the way, it looks like we will have some very interesting characters come Monday. I am really looking forward to the session.
I will provide the following support personnel if the group does not have a member of these OCCs: a Techno-Wizard, an Operator, and a Cyber Doc. These NPCs will be at the base camp of the party and will NOT adventure. There job will be to patch you up, help you analyze what you find, and to help you upgrade and make new equipment as you progress in power. To fund these NPCs, if the party wants them, you will need to give them a % of your earnings, OR, if the party wants, you will be able to purchase services on an as needed basis. I am comfortable either way.
