Hey all,
I'm still interested but have not had a lot of time to read through anything at the moment. I'm leaning towards a rogue/swashbuckler/pirate type of charater. Just not sure yet where he (or she) will be from. But I do have a broad concept right now :)

In the interest of having a cohesive group of adventurers, what is the tendancies of the players and of the adventure? (i.e. going out and doing good things for the community, becoming privateers for hire to make a buck, etc.)

No pcs have been submitted, so I don't know whether the majority are intending to be "good" or "evil" or whatever. I suggest ya'll work that out.

Adventures will certainly involve the high seas, but potentional for other adventures as well. The pcs will be based in the port of Five Fingers which now that I have the supplement will have more detail and use.

Since most of you are new, I'm fine with starting by mid/late March to give you time to digest some of the information and of course make pcs/ask questions etc.

Fighter/Pistoleer
Rogue/Pirate/Swashbuckler

Alignment: Any, yes, if you're evil you could have lots of enemies.

I'm thinking NG but I could roll with a True Neutral slant (follow the big laws, but perhaps ignore some smaller ones as the need arises for the common good).

I think a privateer type slant would be accomodating to that.

I'm also thinking about some kind of fighter, but I've only been able to look through the books very briefly. Definitely still interested, but it might be a couple days before I have time to read through everything and come up with a character.

I'm slightly confused as if you want us to go with somethingy very pirate-y, (as in go all out, get pirate ships, matching hats and board galleys) or if we're to protect stuff and such.

That's mainly what's keeping me from really deciding on a character now, I was considering a Arcane Mechanik, mostly because it seems, well, sort of hilarious. Just kinda odd, if we end up on a old fashion galley.

I'm just trying to get an idea as far as what the general consensus is about the party. Are the players for this interested in being of a good alignment and going out slaying evil, helping people in need? or are the players interested in being "Bad" and doing whatever they feel like (robbing people, piracy, etc.)?
I don't want to make say a "Bad" character and have someone else play a Paladin or Lawful Good character.

For the DM: What type of campaign or adventures will be run? Is it a good vs. evil backdrop?

I'm just trying to get my character concept rounded out but have found a couple of ways to go about getting there. I personaly prefer a good vs. evil type of setting, but I have and can play evil or unscrupulous types of characters.

Try rereading my responses on this thread. IK is a steampunk world, so there is tech around, most of it steam related or involving steam/magic. This game idea sprouted from watching a historical show on pirates, so yes, the game will focus on being aboard a ship and privateering/pirating type exploits for sure. Adventures will certainly involve the high seas, but potentional for other adventures as well (like raiding a fortification, attacking/raiding villages or other things.. maybe exploring ancient ruins/dungeons). The pcs will be based in the port of Five Fingers which now that I have the supplement will have more detail and use.

An arcane mechanik would be most useful for maintaining/enhancing the defenses and weaponry of the ship you're on. So its certainly acceptable.

What alignment ya'll depends on how you want to be. Do you want to work for others or yourselves? Are you all from mixed cultures/races or are you all from the same region/area?

I can do good vs evil easily or vice versa.

I know what I'am missing now. I'm trying to make a Pirate/Privateer PC, problem I'm seeing now is that the IK books and the D&D 3.5 books don't cover sailing rules well. So my question is what (if any) sourcebook will be used to cover this? Will "Stormwrack" be used or something else? I know that the Kingdoms of Kalamar sourcebook "Salt n' Sea Dogs'' is pretty good for sailing rules compared to Stormwrack (IMO).
