Post Experimental DnD 3.5 Idea.
I just have an experimental idea for DnD 3.5 :) I was thinking about a bad guy for some players to fight that was a wizard and then I thought of him using wind and well the idea began to blossom after that :)

The idea is, in a world were the dominating power is magic there are people who use magic called Wizards, but rather than having a set form of spells like DnD normally has, why not create your OWN kind of magic, and alter the visual aspects and physical aspects of spells to match your form of magic? Such as a wizard who uses Parasite Magic, Melf's Acid Arrow would deal the same amount of damage, but rather than dealing acid damage and having a bolt of acid fly from your hands, it deal disease damage and a parasite would burrow it's self into you. but some forms of magic won't be able to use certain spells such as the Parasite Magic, they couldn't use Mages Armor, it just wouldn't work out, but if they used Lightning Magic, sure they could surround themselves in a lightning field that has a chance of blasting attacks away :)

And then there are the Three Paths of the Wizard which grant the user unique abilities, they are:

Meditative: Which grants the Wizard triple spells per day.

Aggressive: Which would increase the HARMFUL effects of spells by half.

Resourceful: Which doubles the NON OFFENSIVE effects of spells (spell effects that do not bring unwanted results)

Destructive: Grants you DOUBLE size, time, and such for all spells.

And then you also get energy blast which allows you to blast your opponent with a short quick blast of your own magical energy that does NOT use up a spell point, if cast at a range it counts as a ranged touch attack, if cast up close it counts as a touch attack. It deals 1d6 for every two levels of the Wizard, and gains a bonus of their Intelligence modifier plus 1 point for every two levels of the caster. So a level five wizard with a intelligence of 18 would inflict 2D6+6 Damage upon their target. Also by using up one spell point they can increase the damage by half.

Also BaB would be increased to Fighter BaB and HD would be increased to d10 as well. By doing all of this, this is what a fight between a couple wizards would look like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYvLRIxgoVQ

broken in view of normal d&d, yes... however it seems he is going for a variant that focuses on wizards... if the enemies are wizards built the same way, then brokeness doesn't really apply. I'd be interested in giving it a try, I've done several casters with a theme before and this seems interesting. depending on what day/time you want to do it of course.

That's the point, the enemies will be spell casters, not just normal monsters, however some monsters can be spell casters as well. It's more of a Role Play form of game, there will be combats, but these combats will work just like any other combat, the themes casting is for role play purposes and to make the game rather more interesting, because, a normal game would be like "Oh my a wizard, he can cast magic missle, and mage armor, and......." But with this system it's "A wizard! What kind of magic can he use?!"
