Post Player Looking for weekend group
I've been a gamer for a very long time with a considerable amount of OpenRPG experience. I've been out of the loop, as it were, for a while due to moving across the country but now I'm settled again and would like to get into a nice RPG.

Post Re: Player Looking for weekend group
Hello! I'm the DM for the campaign tomm mentioned. I run a 3.5 D&D campaign almost every Sunday at 6 pm Pacific, 9 pm Eastern time on the OpenRPG Dev II server (I only cancel sessions when too many players will be absent or if I'm going to be busy, which is rare on weekends). The group is currently around 8th-level, but the least-experienced PCs are 7th, so any new PC would enter at 7th-level (or ECL 7 after any level adjustments). Most of the core 3.5 rules are available online at the Hypertext d20 SRD ( http://www.d20srd.org/ ).

The campaign is called T13K: Fall of the 14th Kingdom, which is set in The 13 Kingdoms, a setting put together years ago by various DMs online, but now only maintained by a few who weren't involved in the original setting. The website's gone, but T13K still has hosted forums on EN World and I still have a copy of the free Setting Guide PDF (I was in a few of the early play-groups, but not as a DM until later). I can e-mail the PDF if needed. My Fot14K game takes place in a non-canonical add-on to the setting, a 14th kingdom on another continent, so it's not as tightly bound to the base setting. That 14th kingdom is Rinkai Tsukari, a vaguely Japanese-inspired country of feudal warlords served by samurai warriors and ruled by the mysterious Tennokage, or Shadow Emperor. However, it's a country of immigrants, exiles, heretics, escaped slaves, and the like, so it's actually an eclectic mix of different cultures from the other 13 Kingdoms in different neighborhoods or different towns. Some towns are heavily Caedmonish, full of kilt-wearing, hard-drinking, and hard-fighting human barbarians, while others are largely Lorlynian elven tree-villages or Paludosan lizardfolk enclaves, and so on and so forth. The party has even passed briefly through a village of native kitsune (fox hengeyokai from Oriental Adventures). Most of the PCs so far have been foreigners simply adventuring in Rinkai Tsukari for the opportunities it presents.

I have an overarching plotline for the campaign, but most of it occurs behind the scenes, and the PCs have generally avoided getting involved in most of that stuff, so I run some unrelated adventures in the meantime based on what the PCs decide to do in each town. But the main storyline is gradually coming together and nudging them towards the ultimate decision they will have to make later in the campaign: whether to fight for Rinkai Tsukari's survival against the coming invasions, or instead fight in support of the other kingdoms to destroy the 14th Kingdom and its heretics, or simply let the opposing forces duke it out while the adventurers fight their own way out of the country to escape whatever calamity ensues. For now, the country is relatively stable, insofar as Rinkai Tsukari could ever be considered 'stable', but certain events are starting to unfold.......

The PCs are currently at the start of a new adventure, looking to disrupt or remove the rising influence of hobgoblin legionnaires from Ulruz in the city of Raikotsu Kamishitoshi, capitol of the Raikotsu Prefecture in Rinkai Tsukari. If the hobgoblins continue their efforts, they may soon take control of the city and perhaps the whole prefecture, turning it into a distant province of Ulruz and instigating civil war between Raikotsu and its neighboring prefectures. That, or the hobgoblins may discover whatever truth may be in the rumors about a dangerous secret buried under Kamishitoshi, possibly an O-Kami that could cause great devastation if disturbed, at least according to local rumor. Whatever the case, the PCs have been hired to deal with the hobgoblin problem. Many escaped slaves from Ulruz managed to elude capture in the Raikotsu Prefecture and settled there as free people in decades past, so the hobgoblins have a special interest in trying to control the area and march freely through it with their Legions.

Char-gen is 32-point-buy for ability scores as described in the Dungeon Master's Guide (I can explain if you don't have a 3.0 or 3.5 DMG), maximum hit points for 1st and 2nd level then 75% of maximum from each additional hit die (round up for odd-numbered character levels and down on even-numbered character levels), and average starting gold for your starting level or ECL as listed in the DMG. Playable races are those from the core rules (though some monster races from the MM are also playable), and those listed in the T13K Setting Guide PDF. Playable classes include those in the core rules, as well as prestige classes from the Setting Guide PDF, and any other 3.0 or 3.5 D&D base classes or prestige classes that I approve (on a case-by-case basis; I won't just grant blanket approval for any one supplement as a whole, but feats, spells, items, and classes can be used from other books as long as each piece that you use is passed by me first for approval). The deities of The 13 Kingdoms are detailed in that PDF, and each PC must choose a patron deity in T13K games (even if not directly worshipped, each person in Aerde is at least loosely tied to one deity or another by their profession, lifestyle, or whatever, even the heretics of Rinkai Tsukari who largely venerate ancestors or nature spirits as Kami).

The current party consists of Slassz (male Sauran lizardfolk, blue dragon shaman), Cyst (male wood elf, evoker wizard/master specialist), Viktor (male human, cleric of Salin), Phyi (female wood elf, sorcerer/gold dragonheart mage), and Keen (male dark elf, swashbuckler/lurk).
