The Board Room (Online Board Gaming)
I had an idea, let's see how well it flies.
The idea here is that sometimes we just want to play a one-shot kind of game, maybe dust off the rules for some almost forgotten game lurking somewhere in our closets. In fact, I'm personally hoping to find players for Star Fleet Battles and Car Wars.
Of course, we need to work out details. Car Wars, for example, could use the regular square grid, and obstacles drawn on in the whiteboard. Star Fleet Battles would only need some counters and the hex grid.
Other games would need boards and cards specific to them. I don't have these, but if you are interested in contributing to the project, just let me know. Of course, we need to be concerned about copyright (no reproducing the Monopoly board, for example), but OpenRPG ought to provide just the right amount of flexibility to get something like this off the ground.
Let me just make this perfectly clear: I mentioned Car Wars and Star Fleet Battles, but I am open to any game. Well, not really, but maybe we can match players up for any game anyone wants to try to play.
Possibilities include: Battletech, Warhammer 40k, Ogre/GEV, and any other game you could think of and might be able to generate the parts for.
Let's have some fun!
Currently, I have a room open on Blackstar, I'll try to keep it going for the rest of the evening.

Battletech already has a free java based board game available, MegaMek. You can even join an ongoing campaign with their MekWars severs. Just google "MegaMek".
