Though the project began only 20 years ago with "participants" selected when they were few months old based on their psychic energy and brought to earth. However when the invasion of Earth occurred the Jedi were reallocated to the world of Sapporo about 6 month of Hyperspace travel from Earth (It takes about 18 months to travel from end of the known galaxy to the next) where they continued their top secret training until now. Although still remaining top secret several Jedi were selected to aid with the Second Battle for Earth.
