 Savage Worlds -Zombie Run Chronicles
As the name implies, its zombie horror survival. This game isnt about classes, gold, and magical weapons of astonishing powers. Its about surviving... for one more night. This might have a high death count, so those that are sensitive in dealing with horrific fatalities of their characters are warned. Obviously the most talented will be the characters that continue to survive, that will be your only just reward... to be the head honcho running the show.
This game will go in progression to different stages. This will be an open ended game supported with a lot of narration for horror effect. Open games usually means confusion and watered down gameplay for some, so i created "stages" to help guide the campaign. The rules for reaching and passing a stage is listed below.
1st stage: Mass OutbreakThe outbreak spreads to millions, literally overnight the streets are crowded with the dead and dying. This stage is 'passed' when at least 1 character makes it out alive. If all die, create new characters and start this stage again.
2nd stage: Escape You have to get the heck out of dodge. This is the classic run for your life before they rip you in half. 1/2 of the group has to be alive to move to the next stage. If more then 1/2 die, then surviving members continue, but dead players remake a character, and stage 2 continues.
3rd stage: Finding safety Where are you going to bunker down at? At least two people have to survive. Failure means surviving and new rolled characters will still be escaping... meaning they are still in stage 2.
4th stage: Bunkering down Yes, you made it, you created your safe zone. And, in game terms, can relax and rp a whole lot more (easier to do when the Living Dead isnt try to rip your entrails from your midsection). 1 character needs to survive. Failure means starting stage 3 again.
5th stage: Laying the foundation Fixing your safe zone, preparing defenses, food, supplies, weapons, and establishing order if you manage to gather up enough people to have a community. 1 member has to survive.
Further stages are "unlocked" in gameplay.
Its not as simple as it sounds. Certain stages can last a whole campaign. And stages arent concrete, i.e. if you fail the 4th stage (Bunkering down) I will rule that the military silo you stumbled on is actually engulfed with the dead and dying. But, that doesnt mean you automatically abandon the base and move to the other stage, you can try to go rambo on the whole base... but keep in mind.... it wont be easy.
Game System: Savage Worlds Time and day of game: Mondays 7pm est Number of Players: Current count 5 players - could use 2 more for total max player count at 7 Type of campaign: Even though it seems deadly, and horrific, its based on roleplaying your character. Its the only way you can gain a load of xp points, this with of course actually surviving to get those pts. Character types: Normal Location: New York City, expected to travel across the USA to different locations, so mobile. Influences: George Romero's Dead Trilogy, The Walking Dead Comic.

I'm interested in joining. Are the 'zombie rules' akin to that of Romero (zombies infect, retain little, shamble, groan/grunt, brain kills) or do you have alterations?

I'm also interested if there's room. Sounds like you're not afraid to let PCs die horribly; I like that

From my experience in running a zombie survival game, the popular type of zombies need to be ran differently. If they are the classic Romero zombies (slow and dumb), then obviously one or two zombies would be easy to take out. So the best way to increase the difficulty (and staying within the classic zombie Romero style) is to have them hidden and lunge, and to dramatically increase their numbers. The fast zombies can have less numbers, since they are faster. Two or three zombies whos speed can reach you in one turn is enough of a threat. The other stuff, like fire breathing zombies, or flying acid spitting zombies is not to my tastes. I like to keep zombies as something sad and depressing, and very, very creepy. Only way you'd run into these is if they were created by a scientist after the normal 'rise', and thats only if things might get stale and I want to create some goofiness. Right now I am leaning toward the classic Romero zombie. So that means more surprise attacks, and larger numbers. If you guys want a specific horror experience, and dont agree with this, then let me know.

Yes I still have room for all you guys. We can start as soon as this coming tuesday. If you need help creating characters, I can offer my help on monday at any time during the day, and maybe Sunday.
Characters are normal. You are part of a small town in Pennsylvania.

Normal characters, yes. I dont have the book with me right now, but I believe its 14 pts for attributes, 5 pts for qualities, 10 for drawbacks, 30 for skills.
I have the session all written up, its actually an old one I had saved. The town is a small town, large open wooded areas where houses can be several roads away from each other. It has a major towns square at the center. If you have ever seen Night of the Living Dead, then thats the idea for this town. The towns pretty generic, if it becomes important, like all you guys decide to hold off in town instead of running for help for example, then I would further build the town besides the maps and small notes of interest I have.
The scenario start depends on what characters I get. I have several intros, one for the more social type of character, another for the character that is the strong man type. None of this matters, its just a small note as to where the player starts, like one person will be heading to the towns center to check out the new pool hall thats been built, another is doing odd jobs and is asked to head to the towns center to pick up extra supplies.

Hey Ammo. Finally running another Zed game eh? Mind if I join, I'd had a decently good idea swimming in my head for a norm.
