Xaoc, you are always welcome. If the party decides to incorperate IK into the setting, I would like to keep the increased cost for the permanent magic items.

Alright, here is a bit more info for the campaign.

We will be using Iron Kingdoms as part of the campaign since X is asking for it. Starting ECL will be 3, with ECL 3 starting treasure. At creation we will use the standard cost for magic items, during the campaign the cost for magic items will be slightly higher because mechanikal items are easier to make. If you don't want to deal with learning about the mechanikal items, you won't be left out the IK items are relatively new to the world, so there are plenty of standard magical items in the world (which will still be part of treasure drops). I am going to be using a good bit of 3rd party sources, so things might get a little wonky at time. If you see a problem with something mid session just mention it and we'll talk about it after session. If it turns out I am doing something wrong and you can point out the rule that shows it you will get 100 XP times your ECL. On the other hand if I am doing it right you will lose 100 XP times your ECL, this will never cause you to lose levels. Don't let this scare you, XP will still be abundant. You will get XP from combat per the rules. You will also get 200 XP times your ECL for role play sessions. With the difference in face-to-face sessions and online sessions it only seems fair to make Role playing as, if not more, rewarding as combat.

As a heads up, Xaoc (and possible another player if he is still interested) has played in previous campaigns that I have run. He knows the way I do things and how I like to run games. If you have questions X can probably answer them as well as I can.

So far we have 5, possibly 6, players who are interested.
Xaoc
Durandal
Pentaclegram
JuryRigged
Trollblood

I'd like to hear from Jury and Troll again to make sure they are still interested. If you are, great we'll get to character creation and if not I will wait for another one or two players.

Character Creation:

ECL 3, Max Level 1 (Pick races and/or add templates, let me know book and page (or SRD) where they can be found)
Any Class is usable as long as you can tell me book and page (or SRD)
Ability Scores - Roll 3D6+6 drop the lowest, reroll 1s (I would like to see the rolls or roll logs)
Starting Treasure as ECL 3 (same as level 3 depending on the book your using)
Any Items and Equipment are usable as long as you can tell me book and page (or SRD) (This is really only for the extremely exotic items and materials)

For those of you using monstrous races, don't forget that you add the creatures HD to the LA for the total ECL. I.E a creature with 3 HD and a +2 LA is ECL 5 before class levels are added.

Have fun and I hope to see character ideas and questions soon.

I am still in. Just need to think through what I am going to do.

Outside of those two core concepts, I'm not sure what else I'd jump on playing, however your specification of max level 1 may help out; both of my concepts are 2HD base, so just knocking one of those off (or outright replacing it with a heroic level) would remedy some of my troubles. If either of those are an option (replacement would probably be the more ideal solution, imo.)

Let me know which and I'll try to keep an eye open for this thread. It had slipped off my proverbial radar (but I /knew/ there was a game Wednesday I was forgetting about :P)

Is there a place where I can find templates and exotic races online? I only own the core books, myself.

Answer to Pent in IM. (including a link to my personal website that I don't want made public)

OpenRPG/Traipse syntax to make rolling stats easier:

[3d6.takeHighest(2).minroll(2)+6]

Jury, if you are set on playing an Anthromorhpic character there are a few things I'd be willing to do.

For the Cheetah:
You can start as ECL 3 by starting with a reduced HD. If you do that I'd have you take two ability points from Str, Dex, Con, and Wis. You would have to reduce your BAB and all saves by 1 (minimum of 0). At the next level you would then be required take your monstrous race which would give you all of this back making you ECL 4 with no class levels, and back on par for ECL.

For the Rhinoceros:
You can start as ECL 3 by starting with a reduced HD. If you do that I'd have you take two ability points from Str, Con, and Wis. You would have to reduce your BAB and all saves by 1 (minimum of 0). Your Nat armor would also be reduced by 1/2 (round down for any remainder). At the next level you would then be required to take your monstrous race which would give you all of this back making you ECL 4 with no class levels, and back on par for ECL.

OR

We can reduce the LA by evening out your ability scores and/or dropping the Nat armor by 5. If you did each would reduce the LA by 1. This still leaves you with the Racial HD for a minimum ECL of 2 + Class level.

Thanks Xaoc for that. I was going to have Pent PM you about that.

yeah, not a problem. Oh, and if anyone has a concept that they want to build but want ideas on how to make it better, let me know. I have lots of fun figuring out how to tweak the crap out of concepts. I've even been known to use the wrong class to build the concept and have it turn out more fun than the right class would have been.

If anyone wants the IK books, let me know and I can get a link, or you could simply google: Iron Kingdoms pdf site:4shared.com
I recommend getting the Character Guide and potentially the Liber Mechanika

there are a lot of nifty new classes, and a few nifty new races
Full Classes: Arcane Mechanik, Bodger, Fell Caller, Gun Mage
Prestige Classes: Battle Chaplain, Blackclad, Field Mechanik, Ironhead, Mage Hunter, Mechanist, Pistoleer, Preceptor of Cyriss, Rifleman, Second-Story Man, Warcaster
Races: Variant Humans, Variant Elves, 'Variant' Dwarf, Goblin (Gobber and Bogrin versions), Ogrun (+1ECL), Trollkin (+1 ECL, standard and sorcerer varients)

My concept:
Human(ish) Arcane mechanik/fighter moving in to a Warcaster PrC.
Arcane Mechanik: Create Mechanika cheaper, faster, and strong than others with the right feats
Warcaster: Steamjack commander Extraordinaire
Steamjack giant metal automaton powered by coal and water, sometimes magically enhanced and semi-intelligent, two versions Labor and War.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to drop out, before things get too involved. I've had an unexpected change in my availability so I wouldn't be able to commit to the full time needed at a session. Sorry about that.

I'm sorry to hear that Durandal, but I understand. Good luck finding another game.

That means we are down to 4, possibly 5, players, which is enough. Though if there is anyone out there who is interested I'd gladly take another player to fill Durandal's slot.
