Dear potential adventurers,
I am a successful DM who is in the last month of his year-long initial Pathfinder campaign. I run mainly adventure paths (with my own touches and expansions of course), and run it as an organic universe that evolves in player options based on when game features were added when and what is happening historically in said universe.
We are on the verge of completing a very expanded Pathfinder's Rise of the Runelords and are moving on to the next series in sequence: Curse of the Crimson Throne. Varisia is likely saved (final battle hasn't happened yet!), and the world's growing pains give way to new threats.
Myself and one or two players from this previous campaign are looking for 2-3 more dedicated, enthusiastic, and reliable players that want to get started in a fresh, rich campaign in my Pathfinder-verse. I welcome any level of experience.
However, to be clear, do not join this group if you are unsure or are looking for a quick fix. We/I are/am the 100% real deal and are looking to bolster our group for the long haul...not just for this campaign but future campaigns! None of us want to waste effort on someone that will play a few games and then drop out to leave a gaping hole.
You must:
1) Be able to play around 7 or 8 PM EST for about 3 hours, two nights a week. This has historically happened on any two days between Mondays through Thursdays. Real life always comes first, but you owe the group notice, and instances should be rare when someone simply doesn't show up without letting us know in advance.
2) Value roleplay as much as combat (of which there is a balance). Be into your own characters and passionate about them.
3) Be willing to learn and evolve.
4) ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE CAMPAIGN (managing online records, providing me with current character sheets, managing your inventory, RP in and out of game if necessary)
5) I take very seriously management of information. If you join my group, do not read, visit, or buy any material that could or could not potentially divulge information about the adventure paths of Pathfinder or Pathfinder's stand-alone modules. If I discover that you have meta-knowledge of the plot ahead, I will have to consider dismissal from the campaign.
6) Be willing to die heroically without complaint. You will get frustrated with situations at times, you will run into painstaking tactical scenarios, you will run into boring parts. Keep your cool and enthusiasm. I feed off of the players, and if they give me nothing I can generate nothing. The more into it you are, the better the campaign is. If my heart skips a beat or I feel a rush of...epic...I can even award Hero Points for it (see dynamic in Advanced Players Guide).
Some Campaign Information:
Allowed Books:
1) Curse of the Crimson Throne Player Guide (can also look in Rise of the Runelords Player Guide as the book suggests, but don't go thumbing through the Guide to Korvosa. There is good info there, but also some significant spoilers. If you need info from it, I can get it for you.)
2) Pathfinder Core Rulebook
3) Pathfinder Advanced Players Guide
Character Requirements:
1) The core Base Classes are strongly preferred until the campaigns begin openly referencing the "new classes." I could be persuaded to allow a base class from the Advanced Players Guide as your main class of advancement with compelling reason. However, there is no reason you couldn't make a compelling character with just the base classes. Prestige classes from Pathfinder or D&D 3.5 can be allowed pending DM approval.
2) Attributes: 15 point buy
3) Races: Those listed in Curse of the Crimson Throne Players Guide
4) Hitpoints: Max Hitpoints from your HD at 1st level+Con Modifier. Afterwards, you may take the median of your HD+Con or roll your HD twice and take highest result+Con.
5) For all Campaigns so far: Good or Neutral Alignments Only. If you are neutral, do not lean evil, and also do not use this as an excuse to be a spotlight stealer all the time.
6) Gold: Starting gold as described in the Core Rulebook. You may use this to buy starting equipment
7) Traits: Pick 2. One must be selected from the list of Campaign Traits in the Curse of the Crimson Throne Players Guide. The other is your choice from the Advanced Players Guide or a pre-approved, official Pathfinder source (such as the Racial books).
8) Hero Points: We will start using these on an experimental basis in Series 2. All players start with 1 Hero Point, and I award them as I see fit and/or on level-up. Please see Advanced Players Guide for uses. WARNING: Major villains will also have Hero Points! You may choose to be an Anti-hero and shun hero points for the bonus feat as noted in the APG.
Background
- I will distribute the Curse of the Crimson Throne Player Guide, as well as cut and pasted background on the city of Korvosa that is character appropriate at start. This will provide all of the background information you should need to spin a character. Players who write a particularly compelling and well-suited to the setting backstory could earn an additional Hero Point (I will likely pick the best 2)! In other words, if I can use it, I can reward it. Ask me for more information if you need it (after reading the player guide) about Golarion, the world at large, and its history. Remember, go through me for all info.
- It is in the party's best interest to have a balance of classes. Before you start writing a backstory, give me a list of potential classes and races with a one or two sentence concept beside each. When we have our players, I will inform everyone of what to go with.
- Anyway, first step is to reply to this *AND* email me at
Aurick427@yahoo.com to express your interest. Tell me a bit about you, your experience level, and how you feel about what I've said. We are less than a month from finishing our current campaign, so you may have to wait just a little while, but get in on this now!
Sincerely,
DMM427
