 2nd edition AD&D, Saturday nights (1 opening)
Game runs from 9:30 pm EST to 3 am EST (or 6:30 pm to 12 midnight for people who live on the West Coast). The game began under 3.x D&D, then switched over to 2nd edition AD&D a couple of years ago.
We have one opening. Characters are 9th level. Roster is: human thief, human fighter, elven fighter, elven (Dunmer) wizard), human cleric. The group could really use a paladin, bard, druid or barbarian.
The game takes place in a homebrew setting. It's "low-magic", meaning that while wizards and sorcerers exist, magicka isn't as commonplace as your typical high-magic setting like Faerûn or Greyhawk. The world combines elements from Conan, the Elder Scrolls games from Bethesda Softworks, the Ultima games from Origin Systems, the Wheel of Time novels and Celtic myths, to name a few influences.
Some things to consider:
Why 2nd edition AD&D?
It's the edition I grew up with and it's the one I'm most comfortable DMing. I don't like 3.x, even after having DMed it for several years.
What kind of game is it?
I'm looking for a player who likes to role-play. There's combat and puzzles if you like that kind of thing but the ideal player is someone who can spend an entire session RPing without rolling a single die. Not everyone is into that so you'll probably want to spend a couple of sessions lurking to make sure this game is right for you.
You say the game takes place in a low-magic setting ... so does this mean I'll never get to fight a dragon?
When I say "low-magic", I mean a setting where a character doesn't just treat "magic" as something ordinary but is amazed, surprised, delighted or fascinated when encountering something truly wondrous. I don't mean a game where a potion of healing is considered rare, just that if you manage to discover a suit of magical armor or even a spellbook, that you should feel like you accomplished something. Apart from making your character potentially more powerful, it's called "magic" for a reason.
And yes, you might get the opportunity to fight against a dragon ... just be aware that properly run, 2nd edition dragons can make mincemeat out of 9th level characters.
This mini-FAQ is TLDR, can't you summarize your campaign's storyline in one sentence?
Well, if reading turns you off, I guess you won't like learning 2nd edition AD&D (because guess what, you'll have to read the Player's Handbook). But in case you're still around, it's your typical save the world from evil kind of scenario. Yeah, I know that's trite but I must be doing something right because we're in our 8th year now, having started the campaign on OpenRPG back in 2003. I should add that of the original group, one player is still with me.
If this sort of thing interests you, drop me a line at SobaAddict70 at gmail dot com. Be sure to put "Andurin -- Saturday game" in the subject line so I don't treat it as spam.
Thanks for reading and may peace be your sword.

Re: 2nd edition AD&D, Saturday nights (1 opening)
I have been scouring for a 2e game. Please put me in your considerations for the open slot, I kind of hate I have to start out at 9th but I welcome the opportunity to finally play a 2e game. I grew up on 2nd edition, I've been running a game that has lasted 2 years straight and welcome the opportunity to finally get to be a player. Any information you need from me let me know, and hopefully we can get in touch soon.

Someone replied a week ago, shortly after the post went up but he hasn't yet committed to fully joining. It's not like we started yesterday. If you're concerned about power creep, you probably don't have anything to worry about. I'm notorious for extraordinarily slow advancement. The last time the PCs received XP was in October I believe. If you'd like to lurk (and I recommend that you do), we have a session this upcoming Saturday. Server is Mayhem, room is Damrosil. Session begins at 9 pm EST and runs till about 2 or 2:30 am. Taliesin

So does that mean I can't join either? I like this form of roleplay!

Maximum number of players I can comfortably handle is seven, Rone. Eight is really pushing it. Anyone who is interested will have to go on the waiting list until a spot opens up.
You might be better served by joining another campaign.
Thanks.
