yes, there is the risk factor for magic. Pretty much your high end spells will attract unwanted attention from powerful beings. So that limits the continued use of upper lvl spells. I agree with that of course, it keeps the magic down somewhat to the cannon.
I will probably take Lando up on his offer of switching out a few of my lists. At low level some lists are simply useless. I think spirit ways has an actual shield spell that protects mages from attack that would be useful, I think you get 25 added to your db, the same as actually holding a shield. I will check it all out again and we will see if Ashetar actually makes it through the next battle.

Just think of the Balrog, it was 66th lvl in MERP, a powerful sorcerer/corrupted maia, which is what Gandalf and the Istari are. Sauron was a corrupted maia too. See your pm.

That book helped out alot Lando. It even boosts my sleep spell to magical, for the first 2 rounds. It's all natural in the MERP rule book. Also saw some great lists. Yeah, I will missing a lot of the utility, though the good stuff doesn't start til lvl 3, but I did switch out 2 of my lists for ones in the essence spell book.
Just wish I could pick up the monk lists. Talk about healing and unarmed ass whooping for the win.

Hey all. I may or may not be able to make it tonight. I laid down early today after not feeling well and took a nap. I just awoke and my stomach is swollen and I have a bit of a stomach bug. Very uncomfortable. There is something going around where I live. I know 2 other people that have the same thing, including my sister's boyfriend. If I end up making it then great but if not I just wanted you to know what was going on. I hate being sick.

Both my spouse and I have been sick for weeks. I'm a lot better, just got pressure in my ears so my hearing is wonky. She had this nasty stomach bug, its no laughing matter. She ended up in the ER because of it. She's finally getting better after liquid diet/anitbotics and stuff. Do get yourself some help and rest/medicine. I will postpone the game since 2 peopel will be out. If anyone wantts to meet/talk about making a pc or anything I'll be on Open for a bit.

Due to two players being out (one sick, one on other business) I will be postponing tonight's session, but I will be online by 9:15 pm EST if anyone wants to talk pcs for a bit or anything about the game.
Currently the party is scouting the Weather Hills and the old realm of Arnor for orc lairs/orc/warg activity and making notes for captain Arathorn IV of King Elessar's forces. These forces have begun assembling in Rivendell and at the ruins of Weathertop (Amon Sul) in preparation to retake Arnor and Angmar. The party found a old ruined watchtower from the 2nd/early Third Age and have explored it, discovering a hidden armory beneath the tower and a further secret door / stairwell (dwarven make) that leads into some sort of tunnel system. They encountered some traps and had to figure out some runes/puzzles. They also fought a large spider dwelling in the tunnel. They killed the spider, but now they hear sounds of battle from above where some of the party was on watch. Evidently orcs or something has come along....
I've got several openings for serious mature roleplayers if anyone is interested. I can provide you a rulebook (pdf) if needed as this game is long out of print.
Game Time/Day: Saturday evenings 9 pm-1 am EST. Session #13 Game Server: Mayhem Game Room: Middle-Earth Roleplay Timeline: Fourth Age 1 Game: MERP 2e rules with possible Rolemaster expansion later on. Level: 2 House Rules: 100 gp to start (ignore 2 gp starting funds), you may pick your background options or roll them randomly. However, if you wish to combine them all into one mighty magic item/heirloom or the like, you must seek approval from me first. You can buy minor magic items with your gold or herbs or the like. See pgs 258-260 MERP 2e.
Also no Orcs/Trolls/Corsairs/Easterlings/Haradrim/Variags/Black Numenoreans as pc races. Noldor are also going to be rare. Sindar or Silvan elves ok, most other men and dwarves, hobbits are alright. Also you may reroll your attributes if they're all lower then 65 one additional time, keeping the results. Remember that you can replace your lowest stat with a 90 for your prime attribute. Also remember any stat below 20 can be rerolled at any time.
Sheets should be in .doc/.rtf/.txt/,pdf or pc node files preferred, but the .xls file that trollblood offered will work too. Send me your completed sheets to my email at landothearchmagi at comcast.net.

Thanks and sorry guys. A stomach bug is EXACTLY what I have. My sister's boyfriend had this first and she has been visiting a lot lately. Now I'm miserable with it.
