Re: Barbarians of Lemuria CONAN anyone?
Just got into two online games, out of the frickin' blue, and I won't be able to play a third one. I'll check back after some time. Thanks for the consideration!

I need to know if Xhalite is going to still be playing or not. I have heard nothing back from his player at all, neither before nor after he missed the last game unannounced.
Also, no one mentioned how they spent they booty from adventure #1! Remember that 1 pt of your advancement points you earned is contingent upon you explaining in a sword & sorcery appropriate fashion how you spend your booty.
Also, I think Jennifer is indeed going to play in the campaign and will likely begin tomorrow.

Re: Barbarians of Lemuria CONAN anyone?
Cheluk rode back to the City of Thieves and buys three horses for his allies. As the horses are stabled, he scours the streets for some vice to drain the last of his coin. A dim red lantern hanging at the entrance to a narrow alleyway catches the lusting brigand's eyes.
In the center of the thin corridor, Cheluk finds a wooden door with some writing etched in to it he assumes to advertise a whore-house. He glances down both directions beside him, and due to a peculiar kink in the otherwise straight alleyway, Cheluk can't see either exit. This raises some concern in him, but still he grabs doorhandles and turns it.
The door doesn't budge either way. Thinking it stuck, the fiery brigand tries to force the door. The soft sound of bare feet hitting dirt on both sides of him springs Cheluk quickly into a fighting stance, his gleaming scimitar unsheathed in the blink of an eye. He is flanked by thieves pointing murderous knives at him, two on each side of him. Their tactic is rehearsed: they close in at once, but Cheluk meets one pair before they close on him. He slices at them, then wheels around to swipe at thieves behind him, dealing wounds on the ambushers, now suddenly forced on the defensive.
The battle becomes heated. Cheluk looks like someone in a battle rage, slashing back and forth. The assaulting rogues stand their distance from the flashing scimitar swipes, but slowly close the defender in. Cheluk is forced back nearly against the door. He is ready to pounce and kill his attackers in a last effort, when he glances out of the corner of his eye small hands holding his coin-bag, escaping into the previously jammed door behind him and closing it shut.
Cheluk easily weighs his life more important than his gold, but curses aloud as he lunges at one of the thieves and kills him. The others stab at him and their blades sink into his armor, tearing at his flesh. The flesh wounds don't cause Cheluk to cry out in pain or fall, but he quickly slices his scimitar and severs an arm and grazes some other thief. They seem intent on killing him, but Cheluk tramples the downed thieves' corpse and flees down the alley. At the end of the alley stand a gate now, but Cheluk leaps and climbs over it in one deft motion. He sheathes his gleaming sword and escapes into the dark city streets. He doesn't have one more coin on him, but he takes the stabled horses and rides out into the open road. He'll probably sleep in the wilderness, with nothing to afford an inn-room with.
In summary, Cheluk spends the money on three horses for his traveling companions, but the rest of his cash is stolen by a cunning group of thieves.

I am kinda at a loss on how to spend the retarded amount of money he has garnered. That is one problem with an abstract money system is figuring out how to spend it. I mean Khazim could commission a really finely crafted Shemite bow but I can't see that costing thousands of gold. He wants it to be finely crafted and functional, not gaudy. You can only drink and wench so much money away in a short period of time. I have a couple ideas but not sure if either is doable.

You just RP it out and don't worry so much about the details of the money. That is the whole point. The game is trying to mimic the source material, where Conan and his friends would sometimes come up with a huge amount of booty and then waste it all away on ale, wenches, and living like kings, etc. It is all in fun. The sword & sorcery genre is all about the heroes getting fabulous amounts of wealth and then wasting it away or losing it in adventures of some sort and then having to go back to adventuring to try to strike it rich again. The BoL core rulebook encourages this not only through its advancement system but also through its encouragement to GMs to not be stingy with the loot.

Re: Barbarians of Lemuria CONAN anyone?
Khazim also returns to Arenjun in Cheluk's wake. He has been thinking about his fortunes and wishes to increase his mastery of the shadow arts. He thinks perhaps for sufficient coin the thieves guild there may be willing to assist him with furthering his knowledge. At the same time he hopes to find a bowyer to commission a Shemite bow of the finest craftsmanship, ornate and well-made but not gaudy and definitely fully functional.
The head of the thieves guild smiles at the chance to get back some of the profits he shared with Khazim for his assistance. He is put through a rigorous crash course in stealth and the arts of gaining entrance to places and things others cannot. During this time he makes inquiries within the guild as to how one may acquire items that have other items very well concealed within them. When asked what he is looking for Khazim divulges that he wishes to replace his current bracers with a finely crafted pair that conceal a dagger in the right bracer and a exquisite set of picks for his craft hidden in the left bracer. He winces at the given price but decides that the utility and subtlety outweigh the cost.
That being done Khazim continues with his studies and training with interludes of time about the city. During his wanderings he comes upon the orphanage, a truly wretched place where the children live worse than dogs. Remembering his difficult youth where he lived in conditions not much better a part of his heart melts. He does not want to remove all the squalor, as he credits that for toughening him up and putting him on his life path, but some improvements can at least be made. Khazim again makes inquiries within the guild as to who runs the place, where they are from, and what usually happens to the children. Not liking the answers in the least he makes the head of the guild an offer; the bulk of his remaining money to provide some meager comforts for the children where they are with the additional enticement of potential recruits. If the guild oversees the orphanage from behing the scenes they could hand-pick children of obvious skill and bring them into the thieves guild to keep up with the obvious attrition that such shadowy activities bring.
So with little coin remaining after his activities Khazim makes his way back to the group, poorer but with a renewed sense of self. Hearing Cheluk's sad tale he contemplates trying to find the thieves within the guild, especially after the work put in for them, but realizes it is not even guaranteed that they are members. Rogue thieves are rare in Arenjun, but still a small presence. He leaves Cheluk to decide for himself what to do about his situation...
