Also sorry about being short.
Just got a bit frustrated. My bad.
Apologies.

My apology, wasn't intend to offend you either. Just trying to help as well. :) Didn't realize you were that new, but it'll be alright. If I can help let me know. I'm 10 yr veteran of OpenRPG and I've run numerous games and played in numerous games on it.

Overall a pretty positive session; particularly because everyone got set up and now knows the basics of OpenRPG. And really, I can't wait for next Monday!

Couple things, though. Nothing big.

First, I'd really like to try what the rulebook suggests, and go with 'abstract combat' instead of the grid. It might be tough for me and other players that have spent most of their time with Dungeons and Dragons, but I think it would be an interesting thing to try. Even if we only try it for one game, and decide we'd rather stick with the grid, it's something I'd like to try.

One real complaint: I hope I'm not alone on this, but, the lizard-mount the foreman has is really out of place and kind of silly. I know it's from a premade adventure for Conan RPG, but, heck, I think we can do better sticking closer to the source material, am I right? Maybe? Can we 'retcon' it out?

First off, I did indeed consider doing the combat completely abstract and I personally have no issue with this but I figured most would want the grid for 3 basic reasons. It helps you visualize positioning in an easy way. Some of the combats will have a LOT of enemies, we are talking 9+ so it may get difficult to keep track. And it is what most players are used to. I personally have no problem with abstract combat and was willing to go for that but I assumed it might make things a tad difficult for the players. Also, I am going to need to enforce the rule that players do not move their tokens because it causes errors in the program. If we continue to use them please just explain to me where you wish to move them and I will do so for you.

Secondly, there are a lot of strange creatures in Conan's world that lot of people are not aware of. Heck, I have the official Conan Bestiary right here in front of me and there are things like giant monitor lizards, scaly dragons, aquatic dragons, kraken, manticores, etc. Remember that Conan lived during the mythical Hyborian Age when beasts walked the earth that are completely unimagined in today's world. I can't vouch for lizard mounts specifically as I don't recall offhand any Conan adventure specifically discussing them. If we would like to change it though, I'm not necessarily opposed to that.
