Re: Savage Worlds -Zombie Run Chronicles
Here is another note to the campaign, which is very important to know considering the original cast fell to the zombie hordes.
Since we are no longer in new york city, huge hordes of zombies wont be as common. So, changes to the zombies will take place to match the difficulty. Note, this doesnt mean we have super zombies, half zombies, magic zombies, robot zombies, or any of that other silliness. The zombies are all handpicked versions of zombies seen in popular zombie movie culture like Romero movies and The Walking Dead comics. This campaign will be more about survival and the threat of zombies than the other one I ran.
They have been modified to balance out their new abilities, but some havent, meaning not all sacrificied something for their new ability. You dont know which is which when you encounter them, though their combat miniature images and more IMPORTANTLY their behavior might mark them as a specific type.
So, my advice, slowly access their behavior to judge how to tackle them, notice roll or common knowledge (avaliable after learning the different types). Dont rush in blind, some zombies are better dealt with in certain ways than others. None of them are wildcards.
Here is a quick run down of the types: Shamblers: Basic zombies, they are the more common zombie, and their combat abilities range from straight out bites, to grab and bites. They also tend to wild attack when in close. They are usually shambling about mindlessly looking for prey. Example, any zombie movie. Aka, Slow and dumb, creeps.
Grab Zombies: they are the ones whos main attacks are to grapple their victims. They also grab weapons and items if in reach (example, 70s Dawn of the Dead when a zombie grabbed and took Rogers m-16 in the mall), they get a free grab and bite on a raise as written in zombie run. They also tend to drag their victims away if they miss the above bite. Its hard to distingush themm from regular shamblers, though they appear stronger and more agile (for a dead guy atleast, they are still slow). Example, any zombie movie. Aka, grabbers, grapplers, draggers.
Moaning Zombies: They hide in wait stealthly until they spot prey, once spotted they release a moan that will alert others with a notice roll. They have high notice, so if one moaner releases a moan, and another moaner picks it up, you will have a problem. They tend to stay in place quietly observing their surroundings, example, Day of the Dead Zombies in the Miami scene. Aka: Moaners, Moanas, loud zombies, crybabies.
Dead Stalkers: These are one of the most dangerous, and need to be always approached with extreme caution. They stay in place hiding until prey comes close and they shoot out and either grapple (with the above zombie run rules, or they straight out bite like a shambler). If you sneak into dark places and suck at notice, you will be caught by surprise and bit open, so plan your marching order and your searches well. Aka; Hide and go seek zombies, shadow zombies, boogie monster zombies.
Tub Zombies: they are big and fat (or sometimes just big), but strong and can withstand slightly more than the average dead. They are slower than the normal zombie, but if they get close, you are done for as their strength levels are higher than most. Aka: Fatties, Beach balls, Fat dead.
Ugly Dead They are disfigured by an accident that happened before their turn, or after. Whatever the injury, the creature is so disfigured that a fear check is required everytime they are spotted. These are the rarest zombies, but if caught shaken from fear as you spot one, you will be in trouble. Aka: Scaries, dumb uglies
Children Zombies They lie in wait, or shamble. They are usually mostly shamblers, but are harder to hit due to their small size. (Dawn of the Dead gas stop scene). Aka: Kid zombies
Tool Users: They arent using machine guns and katanas, but some of these very rare types have known to pick up bricks to bash windows (night of the living dead) tire irons to break into barricades, and to mess around with devices and everyday tools out of fascination as if they remember their past lives (pretty much every zombie movie). Not really so much as a threat, though if you see someone break through the ranks with a metal pipe aimed at breaking a barricade you might want to prioritize your bullets for it. Aka: smarts zombies and WTF zombies!!!!
This is all for now.

Re: Savage Worlds -Zombie Run Chronicles
I am sorry, but I have to cancel this game. Since coming back I have been bombarded with overdue assignments and this week is the start of mid-terms. Mondays are no longer an option, especially since my class day is the day following. I would have to postpone for two weeks, and that will total a month of inactivity on my part. Only day I have free to devote hours of play would be Friday, but that would require a whole new set of preparations within our group that I wouldnt have time for.
If I ever restart this after my semester, or if things calm down during my current semester, I will repost (if there is still interest). Thank you for gaming with me, I enjoyed your company, and I had fun while it lasted.
