Post subject:  OpenRPG Miniature errors

I run OpenRPG in linux, ubuntu to be exact, and I seem to have an issue similar to the person that started this thread.

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=379

But for me, when this error pops up, the miniature vanishes, the guys i'm playing with can still see it, but i cannot.

I found out some basic information however, it's because certain miniatures don't save a copy to the /tmp directory, so when they get moved or edited, OpenRPG has nothing to load, giving me an error message and making the miniature disappear.

I've tried running it with the sudo command, hoping that it may be a problem with permissions, and it worked well for some time, but started to have the issue again after about 30 minuets to and hour.

Any ideas? how do i get it to save to the /tmp folder like it should?

I wish I could help. I've decided I can do something better in the next milestone. Removing the remote image uploader all together and providing an image transfer similar to GameTable's image transfer. When a player places an new image on the map the software will read it's contents and will save it to your hard drive.

That new process will depend on names. If the name of an image is different than a duplicate you already have it save the new one also. It should correct any future problems with images though since people will be able to pull images from their HD.

that process sounds awesome, our group almost moved over to gametable actually, but the lack of fog and the terrible dice system (compared to the game tree anyways)

Is is possible you could impliment and underlay system like gametable?, i've looked in OpenRPG and can't seem to find a way to use my tiles without editing them in photoshop as one big image and using it as the background.

zooming with the mouse wheel and being able to grab the map to pan would be great too...

but you probably have other things on your plate, so i'm not holding my breath

OpenRPG is a great program, the best virtual tabletop out there right now anyway

Yes I can. But I am moving the software over to PyQt so it will take quite some time yet.
