Post subject: | Trouble Setting Up |
This is probably just a newbie thing, but I still need help. I'm running Mac. I've installed Traipse, run setup.py, and then switched the the default application to python. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, because whenever I open it in that way, it opens very briefly, just a quick flash, before crashing. Is it that I'm opening it from the wrong file? If there's any other information that's needed to find a solution, please, ask. I'd like to resolve this issue. |

Can you run it in terminal? I don't have a Mac OS to test Traipse with. |

I tried switching the the default application to terminal, which didn't work. If you're referring to opening the program by entering commands and such, I'm pretty unfamiliar with that sort of thing. I haven't had much exposure, you see. |

Do you know what a terminal window is? It's where you enter in command lines. Can you try running Traipse in a terminal? |

I do, in Mac I can set what the default application to open files is. As an example, you can switch a text file from opening in Word to opening in TextEdit, or the other way around, but you probably already know that. I know how to access terminal, I just don't know how to use it. What I tried was switching the default application to Terminal, but that didn't work. So what you are talking about is opening it by entering a command line in Terminal? Could you tell me what to enter? |

I am pretty sure you enter: #python Traipse.pyw |

I tried it, as well as a "/" instead of a "#." With "/python Traipse.pyw" I got the following: -bash: /python: No such file or directory I know I have python and wxpython installed, I guess it means either the command was incorrect or it's not in the right place, I'm not sure. |

Sorry, I can see how unfamiliar you are with terminal. The # just represents the prompt. The command is Code: python Traipse.pyw |

Well, I'm not exactly sure what's wrong now. This is the message I got: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/Resources/Python.app/Contents/MacOS/Python: can't open file 'Traipse.pyw': [Errno 2] No such file or directory I know I have Traipse.pyw, so the impression I get from this is that it's in the wrong place, though this is from my limited experience with this sort of thing. |

Probably you are in the wrong place in terminal. Do you have AIM? I can help you a lot faster on AIM: thcfrzn |
