Post Dice rolling bug
I found a weird bug, where my dice rolls were maxed - i.e. if I roll a d20 it gives 20, if i roll a d6 - it gives 6.... But not absolutely every time (like 9 out of every 10 times), and only if I don't chain too many rolls close together... So it looks like cheating... Also the other players didn't see a message about my rolls being bogus, so i guess it's a random generator flaw. It happened a LOT of times so I'm 100% sure it's not luck.
I also just played a game where the DM had adove average MAX rolls too... Of course this time it could have been luck... or it could have been the same bug...
Any idea why that happens? Is openrpg's dice rollers reliable at all? Is there any alternative?

What version? Traipse or 1.8.0?

No clue. DJ made a HUGE HUGE change to the dieroller.

I forgot to mention that one or two times i got 19 or 18... on a d20... instead of the regular 20... And i think it was still a part of the flaw's mechanics...

My guess is that the random generator looks for input in an unreliable place... Or it's algorithm is prone to such accidents under specific circumstances...

Ok, well anyway, thanks for the fast response... Take care!

Not sure what you mean when you say you got a 19 or 18 instead of the 20. How do you know?

No he didn't. He made a change in some parts of 1.8.1 (not released yet). Again is there any difference between the dice code in 1.8.0 and Traipse? Maybe a little but not in the randomizer. I think there were some changes to fix a formatting bug.

At any rate there's nothing in the code that would explain this behaviour. Something else is going on.
===================================

DreadSquirrel could you try to reproduce this effect and then send us a copy of the Chat session. You can get a copy by bringing up the Chat View (it's the button to the right of the dice on the toolbar) and then copy and paste that text here. Also could you say how you are entering the die rolls into Chat? ie are you typing it in by hand and hitting return, or are you sending a node's text to chat? What are you typing in to get the effect? if it is a node can you find the text of the node. If you don't know how to do that I can explain in more detail.

Also. I assume you are using the standard die roller. To check if that is the case you can type into Chat "/set dieroller" and you should see a box with "dieroller" and another value in it. What is that second value?

Hmm I'm 99% sure it was std. (0.9% it was WoD 0.1% it was d20)
I was rolling the dice by clicking the dice buttons - every time.
I just now noticed that I tried turning in some plug-ins earlier, so it might have a connection (or not).

I will give you the exact log from the occurence - as I'm not sure I can reproduce the effect (If i do, I'll post it too). It has most of the text cut out, but my dice rolls are there...
Here's the link (could not attach it for some reason): http://www.filefactory.com/file/b1b2355/n/drollbug.7z

Well a plugin might mess with things but it seems like it would have to be deliberate.

But if you cannot reproduce the effect then it's mostly likely just plain luck unless your level of (probability) significance is very high.
