Post New Meta Server Going up
I got tired of playing games with some lackluster personality so I got my bearings together and worked on the Meta Server code that I was smart enough to grab while it was available.

I will be working on the code for a little longer but when I am finished I encourage users to add my meta server to your list. OpenRPG currently allows for multiple Meta Servers to be used during the server registration process, otherwise it is an archaic process that I am sure a couple of heads can get together and clean up.

The meta is at http://traipsemeta.madmathlabs.info/ and it is in it's early stages. Right now I can register my server there and un register my server there.

It took me some time to salvage the code and make it usable, but I am going to make damn sure it gets into the hands of other people. I'm fed up with these childish reactions to awesomeness.

The Meta requires an SQL database, and you might want to modify it yourself. I will turn the RAWEST working code I have, then I will start cleaning up. The 'RAW' package will be called, META_RAW or something with the words Meta and Raw in it.

I will also release my cleaned up code. Give me some time for the cleaned up code, and at least a few hours for the raw code.

And here is the Meta Server code I am working on. It has a lot of the remarks removed, but that is what the RAW and unedited ones are for.

Mine is working with 1.7x, I have not tested it with the Gilcrease edition, but he made a switch to Json, so I am not sure how that is going to work. The previous errors were created because I did not set the <metaservers /> item, which is now created with portability in mind. I made some changes to file names, but as I have said before it still rings true ... OpenRPG can be served in any wrapper, through any code, and still work with other clients. The real dependency is that the XML data being sent is understood by the software.

Here I am trying to fix the meta_server_lib on my branch and I stepped ahead of myself. When I post the patch after code clean up, Traipse will allow you to define new Meta Servers in the metaserver.cache file. You can then pull data from all of them, and you will even be able to register your server to all of them, at once.

The slop that is on the google pages can be the 'Larger' community, hopefully it gets fixed some day or maybe Chris can put up a new one, and any off shoots can be a 'smaller community'.

In the future Traipse will have more options for people who want to post to multiple servers. Right now I am just looking at a bug fix.

Post Re: New Meta Server Going up
oh boy. I am the little happiest bug in a rug right now. And on that note, I have the meta up and when Traipse users update they will replace their metaservers.cache file with a metaservers.xml file. This xml file can be modified to include more Meta Servers, or exclude Meta Servers.

Server Admins, it's this file that is used to register your server to multiple metas, yeah -- multiple metas. So if you want to exclude yourself from some, or include yourself from some, modify this or make a duplicate and then modify the getServerMetasList function in the meta_server_lib file.

Also, you might want to download a Meta Server of your own. I am going on coding Hiatus for awhile and when I return I plan on fixing the bug that is preventing rooms from registering properly.
