On Windows .. yes.

Why are you attempting to use py2exe on a linux machine if you want to run it on a windows machine?

I also do not want to help you much further unless you point me to the source of your code. OpenRPG is GPL and open source and you need to provide your source code according to the GPL's terms.

I just downloaded the latest version of OpenRPG from sourceforge. I want to run it on my windows computer because it can run for more than 5 minits at once and it connects to the internet.
theese are rather big advantages for using MMORPG on don't you think? besides I am unable to install python as I only have standard user access on the windows computer, hense ttrying PortablePython.

yeah, the source code. The OpenRPG source code is open source. You can read it and modify it however you want. What I don't want to see happen is you create a closed source version of the code and then walk away promoting it and hurting the community and image of the software. I want the source code to remain open.

You know what? I think you might require admin access because you are using an older version of OpenRPG. You downloaded it from the SourceForge page and that contains older versions. In those versions the software made a change to OS's System paths so that it recognized the OpenRPG folder.

Will you try using my version of OpenRPG with PortablePython? All you need is the Traipse.zip file to test it out. (Click my Traipse Movement link and then click the Download link).

If that does not help you get started without Admin access I will do some testing later this week or early next week when I get my 4GB RAM module. I have to run Windows in a Virtual Machine ...

creating and premoting a closed source version would break my software pricing rule:
If it's free (perticuly open source), it's the best thing ever.
If you have to pay for it, it's a pile of crap.
even if I did create an executable I would have uploaded that to sourceforge.
vista is what makes portable python require admin access, however a friend of mine has xp which he lets me use, PP likes that, and so does the WX installer. however the WX installer doesn't like PP

Ok. I just got my tracking number for my 4GB RAM module so I can upgrade my computer. I can do the testing today .. but running on 2GB is just pure suck of time. Especially since I dis own Windows as much as I can and run my Windows in Virtual Box.

If another dev does not have the time to help you can you wait until later next week when the 'Package of Awesome +4GB RAM' comes and I can work with Portable Python? It sounds cool so I want to see what I can do with it also. :ugeek:

yeah I don't mind waiting. can't get PP to recignise that WX is there in the site-packages folder, I'll have to look that up because PP doesn't set the python executable location variable

CyberKing .. are you sure you need to install wx.Python? From what I am reading it contains that wx.Python libraries already.

yeah, when I tried it said it could not locate wx or something to that meaning.
if I can get it to run on PP I could use it to create an exe-style version (not requireing python or anything else, they would all be supplied) if I could do this I would be happy to send you a copy to put on the site.
