I just finished reading Reign of Discordia (Traveller Edition) and love it. It has just about everything I was looking for in a space opera campaign. However, I'm not too familiar with the Traveller system. (I had a few of the books back in the 80's and I recently downloaded Traveller the New Era and just started working my way through that) I have as question regarding character creation.
In Reign of Discordia it says, "The available backgrounds in the Reign of Discordia setting are the alien races that are available for play." Does this mean that Reign of Discordia characters do not go through the previous career generation system from Traveller and start out as genuine novices? I have to admit that the career generation system has always captivated me. Would the game be out of balance if I were to use it? I realize that this is probably a stupid question
, but I'm a newbie to the Traveller system, so I can afford a few stupid questions.Thanks
